Where to, and why?

I reckon Australia, everything I've heard about the place sounds really  I've a mate who returns from there today having spent 5 weeks over there and he says he loves it, not to dissimiliar to the UK, but with really nice weather. I also worked with someone who lived there for 2 years who wants to move back over there later in life. It's something I wouldn't mind doing when I'm older  ...Prolly never happen mind  :(

Ive moved about in this country enough I'd love to emmigrate.

Canada has great standard of living, other then that a country where I could get by with english till I learn the lingo. fancy the Netherlands or anywhere in Scandinavia.

Hot weather is nice for a holiday, but I couldnt stand it all year round.

A mate of mine went to Aussie for a year, he says the people are arogant as f**k (sorry if ive offended anyone). I would have thought the people who have been nice, but, oh well. Love the country though, wouldnt mind living out there. Would prefer Canada though.

Aussie has lotys of cheap Skylines and 200's :D :D

Yup.
Dubai quite easily. my folks live out there and i have been offered a job out there with CNN doing networking.
went there for 6 weeeks last year and gotta say its the best place i have been. people are great there. to give you and example......
i hired a brand spanking new range rover while i waws out there, black of course, (cos my dad's company paid the expense, they thought he was hiring it) and after a few days of cruising around checkin dubai out i got to know a few people and we went down to jumeira beach which is kick ass. anyways there are some fair sized dunes at the back of the beach where we were messin round trying to get eachother stuck in the sand and numpty here got caught out and promptly beached the rangie. no-one had a tow strap or owt and iw was to stuck to push (the sand out there is very fine its almost like thick dust)
This was about 9 at night, so a lotta peeps were there in their jeeps and stuff having bbq's etc.
The number plate system in dubai is literally just a set of numbers. however once you get into the 4 digit number plates the lower your number the more important you are.
anyways, i went wandering down the beach looking for someone with a towing strap to no avail, and came to this land cruiser last of all. it had mirrored windows so i couldnt see in so i went up, and as i got close i began to see inside and there was this arab getting it on with one of his many wives i expect. i thought well im stood here, and if i dont knock im gonna look like a perv so i knocked. down rolls the window aftyer his misses hopped off and he puts it away. and he was like hello how can i help you. so i said look im real sorry but im stuck over there have you got a tow strap. he was like ahhh it happens a lot but i dont have one. so i was like sorry for bothering you and started walkin off thinkin bollocks to it i will just call a tow truck. he got out the car and insisted on taking me to town which was about half an hour away, buying a tow strap and pulling me out, then taking me to a garage to have the car checked over etc.
i was amazed at how nice 2 people can be when you just interrupted em at it. we got it un-beached and i said thank you etc and he had a cig and a bit of a chat and drove off. i realised as he drove off that his number plate was number 18. he was the 18th most powerful man in the uni8ted arab emirates and i had interupted him on the job.
personally i would have had me deported if i was him.

Hell of a country it really is. only place i know where you can get you car hand washed by 8 people, put up on a 4 poster bed and have all the underside of your car or jeep pressure cleaned, undersealed and oil changed, then inside valeted, all in under 20 mins by really nice happy people for less than a tenner.
and for filling a range rovers petrol tank from empty to full costs in the region of 15 pounds.
booze is cheap, 200 fags will cost you a 5'er, pop is 5 pence a tin from a machine and the winter there is like a HOT british summer. (mid to high 20's). granted the peak point in the summer is unbearable as it hits high 40's low 50's and humidity hits 100% everday, but what more could you want from a country.
BTW they are also mad keen on doing up rice burners, seen loads of 200's (called 180sx out there) and skyline gtr's done up to the bollocks racing down the motorways.
parts are cheap as chips for cars and computers, and my dad's coming to visit in a week so if you guys want anything small (no engines or anything im afraidLOL) i.e. will fit in suitcase let me know and i will see if my dad can get you's a price.

seriously wicked place. sorry to babble on but hoped you liked my little story. all true i might add,

I would go in a shot, and will be soon hopefully, to the states. Hoping for New York (not too many jobs for Andy in Hawaii  ). Had the chance a couple of years ago and turned it down, wish we had gone then. :(

I've been offered a job in West London (which is below Sheffield somewhere).

That's scarily far away.

I've got dual nationality with Oz and have to say that to some extent this is the way Aussies may come across. They're more cocky than arrogant. Its just the way they are. You learn to throw it back. If you can't get on with it, Australia is not the place for you. And remember, for every good thing than it may have, it also has bad points.

I would move back tomorrow if it weren't for Mrs Nicely's family.

Yeah, can give it back, which i why id love to go out there. Exactly what my mate said, he said there are some quality people over there, but you just have to learn do deal with their personality.

west coast USA, went to california a few years ago and didnt want to come back.......
wouldn't settle in san francisco tho as IMO its like Birmingham with even more crack heads and crime than Brum!!!
I'd probably live in either LA or San Diego.......

Australia is also very tempting, but us 'Poms' are looked at as scum by a lot of Aussies.....

e New Zealand as thats where ive ended up >main draw back is the frigin flight, all those hours in a sardine can:annoyed: but there are some great stopovers.Find it a lot easier to work o/here,the corners are rounder, its a wee bit looser than the U.K.As most of kiwi's live in Auck or other cities the rest of the country can seem quite bare which = empty roads...:D shame about the 100 k speed limit though. You can drive without insurance, not recommended.and 98 octane is about 35p a liter Great for surfing and all sports ,excellent coffees and an amazing range of beers, all good, plus a fine bottle of merlot for a 5er.But it aint the same as the old sod, miss all that wonderful accumulation of history, architecture culture and such...cheers all ,from a wet eyed pom.

I grew up in Florida and North Carolina and i'd move back in a second if it wasn't so difficult to get into the counrty these days.

Realistically it'd be Canada or the Bahamas. If the g/f wasn't scared to move away from Yorkshire that is

Well lets see,

I grew up in Washington State
When I was 21 I moved to Okinawa Japan and lived for 3 years, then moved to Italy, I have been here for 1 year and will be here another 2. After that I have 12 more years of travelling the world before I will probably settle down in Southern Washington. I would like to live in England, Germany, Mainland Japan, and Alaska before I finally go back to the states.

If my girlfriend's job plans work out we will be living in Sydney within three years. I will hopefully have a nice s15 or a well sorted R32! Australia RULES, we're going back for the third time this Christmas and New year. I don't really how anyone can say they found the Aussies arrogant:confused: I found the majority to be chatty and happy, fun people. A vast difference to the miserable feckers over here.

Nice one! A word of warning though. Have you lived and worked there for more than 12 months, or just visited? Day to day life is not as sweet as visiting, and has just as many bad points as the UK. Just preparing you...

Totally agree about the people. Cocky not arrogant. Very friendly though.

Been talking with my wife about emigrating quite a lot just lately, I don't think we will - she'd miss her family too much. But, if we did then it's down to :

USA - good opportunities there for me w/ current company, down side is it's full of Americans.
Sweden - one of our suppliers has been taking the piss out of us this week. They get 3 - 4 week shut down in the summer PLUS about 30 days to take over the rest of the year. Down side - not thought of one yet.
NZ - Loads of open space, crazy locals & sheep ( baaa ). Downside - the wife would be too home sick being that far away.
Greece - Laid back country / people, decent weather, not too far away for the wife to visit her family. Down side - all those fat women dressed in black with huge moustaches.
