I have been given no specific mileage to run my car in for.

Someone suggested 1000miles at =<3500revs.

What would you recommend?

The car is finally (12 weeks after blowing it up  ) ready!

i did 500 miles under 3.5k no boost, then 500 miles up to 4k on very light boost. After that just progressively built the revs up every 100 miles or so until it

blew up again

I managed 100 on my last rebuild. :)

Basically I put it together and it still had the same fault as before the rebuild so in the knowledge that it's coming to bits again I thought feck it, still only running 17psi though.

Why was that, Arry? (says Ripper with mild concern*)

*Understatement

s'ok mate, its only cos it was rebuilt by halfwits :D

actually, thats not entirely true - they've found that my timing wouldnt stay in check and at certain times was firing at more or less tdc - putting a big shock down the crank, not good when it comes to running in ;)

Its having a new loom in it today if they cant find out why!

What guarantee did you have with the rebuild?

Did I make the mistake of having a rebuild when I should have gone for a recon engine instead?

:annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

nah i wouldnt say so mate - at the end of the day the guarentee on both is the same and, at the end of the day a recon lump is still the same thing as a rebuilt lump, apart from its somebody elses instead of yours.... better the devil you know?

All these horror storeys of rebuilds going wrong usually have my name attached to them - so its quite impossible to be as unlucky ;)

Thankyou - I feel suitably reassured! :) (:( )
