UPDATE 10.10.11 Forget the GB numbers, just come and fill your boots. Theyre available immediately at the GB prices, its first come first served :)

LIMITED STOCK, GET YOUR NAME DOWN NOW TO AVOID DISSAPOINTMENT!

These are hugely specced and easily surpass the MSA cage requirements. Theyre 2011 EDC, Time Attack and BDC compliant. JDM All Stars in theory want the door bars welded together and the sandwich plates welding to the car floor but Ive been told of no end of people who have been allowed to run with non full compliant chages.

The cages are designed to run with the full standard interior. Youll just lose the sun visors. If you run both door bars on the S14 then make sure the bolt heads are outward facing (rather than the bolt thread) as the bars and bolts will foul on the door card slightly. This doesnt prevent the operation of the door and it can still be closed. The door bar will force an indent into the door card over time and the door will become easier and easier to close.

Specifications:

Theyre true bolt in cages so no welding of support brackets, just drill and bolt, job done.

S14 is through dash, S13 is miss dash. S13 has plenty of room for entry exit with the legs missing dash wheras the S14 need to run through dash due to design of the door cards.

Basic cage specifications

Finished in black
45 diameter 2.5mm wall thickness cold drawn steel
Twin bolt fixings at 90 degree for all tube mounting points
All the bolts are 8.8 tensile strength
Sandwich plates to mount under the floor and bolt to the cage feet
Far exceed official MSA roll cage specifications

Full cages:

6 point fixing
Main hoop
Rear stays
Removable twin door bars
Removable rear horizontal
Removable rear diaganol
Front legs
Front upper screen bar
Pre painted in black - note that other companies charge extra for finish, they supply in bare metal
Fitting kit with all nuts, bolts, washers and sandwich plates

Rear cage - ask about availability

Four point fixing
Main hoop
Rear stays
Removable rear diaganol
Removable rear horizontal
Fitting kit with all nuts, bolts, washers and sandwich plates

Every single cage has been assembled in our warehouse before it was packed ready for dispatch.

Some of the S13 cages were originally designed for single point fixing door bars and as such we have redrilled the door bars to allow twin bolting to meet BDC regulations. There is just one extra hole in each main hoop at the door bar mounting point.

Prices

Retail price on the full cage £499, half cage £219.

If we get 10+ then Ill do them for £359 and £179 a piece.

NOTE: ONCE STOCK HAS GONE IT HAS GONE, THERE ARE NO CURRENT PLANS TO MANUFACTURE ANY MORE OF THESE CAGES!

Prices INCLUDE vat

UK carriage is £17.63 per half cage, £30 per full cage. Again, our prices include vat and offer yet another saving over other companies cages

When are they availabe?

The full cages are in stock and ready to ship. Theyve been built in house, checked, approved, dissasembled and packed. As soon as we hit the required numbers then we will dispatch.

Half cages will be assembelled to order but theyre still available from stock.

Note that the cages are manufactured to a tight tolorance so we may have removed paint from the end of bars to allow them to slot into the corresponding socket if the paint makes the diameter of the bar too great for an easy fit. You cant see the paint free section as it lives within the correspondign socket. This is something that you would have had to do so we have just made your life easier so dont be complaining to us if theres no paint at the end of one of more tubes. ;)

Also note that we will NOT be held responsible for any damage to paint finish that occours during transit. The cages are packed well but theyre big, heavy objects and if the courier is particularly rough during transit then there maybe the odd mark or scratch.

Think of the black finish as an added bonus rather than a given.

I'm interested in a cage for an s13 chassi. What would shipping to Sweden cost?

bren
10-10-2011, 10:33
£104.99. They have to be sent as three packages so it works out expensive. if you got a group of you together in Sweden who wanted cages then I could look at sending a pallet to bring the individual carriage prices down :)

Hi there,

I would be interested in the s14 half cage. Do you have any pictures? So i can visualize it better?

bren
10-10-2011, 11:10
S14 rear:

http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=74489&stc=1&d=1318241381

http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=74490&stc=1&d=1318241388

http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=74491&stc=1&d=1318241393

http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=74492&stc=1&d=1318241398

Note that the S13 rear cages will now have the fixings for the front cages on the main hoop. S14 are normal rear cage.

Also note that the mounting tab design is now superior to that design but it gives you an idea. Have a look at the full cage pics to see how the diaganol and horizontal now fixes to the main hoop.

Ok, I will try to see what kind of interest we have here in Sweden :) How many do we need to be so that i gets cheaper as a pallet?
And when is the deadline for this offer?

bren
10-10-2011, 12:18

Is the picture you've posted the complete cage, as the listing states rear diagonal, rear horizontal, removable rear diagonal and removable rear horizontal, the picture only shows one of each?

Is the rear horizontal suitable for a harness fixing, or is it too far away?

Cheers

S13 full cage including all bars (diagonal, horizontal etc). Harness fits perfectly to horizontal bar. Position of seat in car on last picture show you seat alligned with b-pillar on car (where the big cage loop is placed). In first picture I am sitting too far forwards. Should give you a clue about distance for harness/horizontal bar.

I can try to measure the hole centre but it was a case of drilling a small hole and then making it bigger.

The first pictures show exactly what you get, the listing just repeated itself.

You can use the horztonal for harness fixture

Cool sorry for the delay work wrecks everything?

Is the cage MSA approved or do I have to get them to check and pass it?

bren
21-10-2011, 06:36
I dont believe there is such a thing. Im not aware tha MSA pre-approve any product. They are built to MSA Blue Book spec as a base and then on top of that have an extra door bar each side, double bolted cage to cage fixings, rear horizontal and rear diaganol, none of which are required by MSA regs.

They fly through MSA inspections.

Odd, Id replied to this but its gone.

We dont have any S14 full cages left. We are looking to see if we can put some together, we have a container full of parts.

Even if we can put some together demand will outstrip supply.

I can do a deal on a test cage but not until the next shipment comes through in another 4 months or so.

Hi,

Bren is on holiday this week. We have no full cages left but are looking into getting more sorted.
I believe Bren will update the post when we get more in.

regards, Jason

Hi,

Hey Bren.

So you still have S14a rear cages in stock? Can the front cage be purchased at a later date if needed or is the rear cage different to the rear part of a full cage?

We have rear cages, I dont know when, or if, we will have the front sections to add to them in the future :(

Ah right, I'll prob still go for a rear cage then. Even if it means getting a custom front section made up later if I need it.

Once my car is repaired and back on the road I'll come back to you Bren .

Is it possible to get the rear cage from you and put custom front legs to it?
Is there any fitting on it for the front legs or the bare rear cage?

How much is the rear cage to Germany?

Best regards Georg

We will have some components for the front, just not all of them.

Cheers Bren.

I had a look at someone elses rear apex cage the other day and I have a question for you. The mounting point that takes the front cage would just be poking out. Would this be a safety worry on just running the rear cage as I'm pretty tall and think if I did roll it (lets hope I never do) that it's possible my head could hit that bracket which would cause more harm than good. Do you have any padding that can go on that bracket?

Obviously this wouldn't be an issue with the full cage as you'd running padding on the cage anyway.

Any piece of metal thats in the way of your head is indeed a potential heath hazzard. We dont stock padding Im afraid :(

Indeed. I'll have a think of the best was of covering that bracket. On track wouldn't too much of an issue as a crash helmet will be on anyway. It's more for road driving.

I bet that's the first time anyones asked that isn't it?

You still dont want to smash your crash helmet into a nasty piece of metal but its not as bad as a bare head!

No ones specifically asked about protection on a a rear cage using compoentns from a full cage but then protecting your head from steel tubes is something that needs doing be it just a rear cage or a cage using a 6 point hoop :)

So the other option I have I suppose is to just buy a rear cage without those brackets? then if I ever want the full cage I'd need to sell the rear on. Then I can just put padding on the rear hoop of the rear cage.

That would work better wouldn't it.

I thought the rear cages always had that bracket for the front section you see.

No, we do two types of cages, full and then rear. Full cage main hoops have the fixings for the front section, rear cages dont. We were at a point a while ago where we only had rear cages using the full cage main hoop but have now sorted proper rear cages for both the S13 and s14 again :)

I think I also have the rear cage from our V8 S14 which has no diaganol or horizontal and Ive removed the fixing brackets for the two bars so you can use the rear seats if necessary. £100.

This is the normal S14 rear cage fitted (the rear diaganol is now a better design):

This is the rear cage installed in my V8 S14:

7720177202

Ok, I can supply part S14 cages.

The first will be missing:

Right hand leg
Left hand upper door bar

The second will be missing:

Windscreen bar
Right hand leg
Left hand upper door bar

£279 per cage.

Thanks for that Bren.

I think I'll end up going for just the rear cage then. The offer of the V8 S14 cage is a cracking one but I'll be wanting the rear diagonal and the rear horizontal so that I can mount harnesses and also a camera off of the cage.

May seem a strange question Bren but how much does the rear cage stiffen the car? Is it noticable? Are you more likely to notice the additional rigidity with a full cage or is it simply the full cage offers better protection in an accident and that they both help stiffen the car nicely? I've been considering a cage for a while now and keep changing my mind. I use the car on the road and on track and want it for all of the reasons mentioned but I can't help thinking that a rear cage would be easier to live with and the full cage might be a little OTT for a non competitive track toy. Plus I'm reluctant to chop my dash up, don't want to loose the sun visors, don't want the additional weight and the mrs would probably never get in it again. She's not a unit by the way she just doesn't like crawling in and out of the bucket seat let alone squeezing through a cage.

any eta on when we will have more of these?

bren

They do stiffen the shell, the full cage more so than the rear. Ive never done back to back testing with regards to how the car feels before and after a cage so couldnt quantify by how much.

We dotn have a date on getting any more, no
