Not gonna lie, this isn't exactly much of a project, so don't expect any miracles here... unlike the Nissan, it just seems to work fine as it is :wack: I'm a forgetful bastard so I figured a thread here would help me remember with photos of stuff and things.

Anyway, back in 2009 I had a massive itch to scratch and all I talked about for several months on end were M3's. Originally reeeaallly wanted a Dakar Yellow Evo, but as always something else came along and I couldn't resist it:

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/IMG_6563.jpg

Alpineweiss Evo, Bilstein PSS9's, BBS RS-GT 18x8/9's on Federal 595RSR rubber, and various other stuff like a full Milltek with decats and a K&N with Dave F heat shielding. Cue a lot of hassle trying to re-register the car in my name thanks to it being exported to France for the grand total of a month :wack:

So nothing of great interest to report for a while, other than getting the rusty and slightly discoloured rear arches sprayed along with the rear panel and some smoked indicators to blend in with the headlights.

The car was all good in the suspension dept. and the brakes were Yellowstuff all round on newish discs and fancy Motul fluid, so it got its first Nurburgring trip with me and a few mates in June last year. I even polished a car for the first time in my life. Mental.

This is a pretty good representation of what my trip involved: Lots of beer, lots of gherkins, and laps.

Not forgetting shameless tagging too

Took some time out to fanboi

Not as many laps as hoped due to track closures :(

Some smartypants dropped oil on the racing line for several miles (for any ring geeks, it ran all the way from the exit of Adenauer Forst right up past Kesselchen) while I was out there, several smashes including this dude right in front of me

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/26690_401583409052_515444052_4370143_161896_n.jpg

Then probably one of those drives you'll remember forever, battling through rush hour traffic and a big crash and jam on the E40 near Brussels so we could make our ferry, as we had a wedding to attend...

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/26690_401582564052_515444052_4370089_1967320_n.jpg

We got split up in one of the jams and at one point I was doing 140+ for a good while through Belgium to try and catch my mates up :wack: Felt like something out of Top Gear, especially whooring it past a French cop and just making the ferry by a bawhair...last cars on :D

Not much else to report from last year, ran the hill at the Weekender:

Then went absolutely nowhere when it snowed

TBC...

I like your car

I get tempted by M3 Evo's, do you like it? Silly question I suppose as you've had it a while :wack:

Thanks Dave. I love it tbh, I keep saying it ticks so many boxes for me. I keep thinking about selling up but never do, I can't seem to part with it! It will have to go at some point so I can save some dorrar, but if that wasn't the case then I reckon the only thing it would get replaced with is an E46 M3 if the budget allowed

Love, it's like a diary of your M3. I've had a similar experience with the 200 this year, first trip to the 'Ring for me and absolutely fell in love with the place :smitten:

Glad you're still loving the Panzer wagon mate, just make sure you bring her down to the Weekender next year, we'll have something even better for you ;)

So part 2, 2011 :)

No major parts or modifications to report still, as it's so bloody reliable :wack: Started off with a Track Scotland night at Knockhill in typical June weather, glorious

All was good, so having a family wedding to attend in Meckenheim, Germany, I figured it would be rude not to take the car with me seeing as the 'ring is but half an hour away from my family's place :D

Sampled the delights of the Eurotunnel this time

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/IMG_1176.jpg

Actually managed to appear in more than 2 action shots this time, which was a bonus

Thankfully I quit while I was ahead, as the brakes were still fade free but starting to grumble a bit. Probably just as well, as I found both front tyres like this after the 8-900 mile journey home via South London, and long stints at 130mph on the E40 :o

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/IMG_1235.jpg

So for now I'm back to boring old standard rims until I can afford some new 18's. Seriously tempted to invest in more 595RSR's...

So now the M3 needs a little TLC over winter. First up, some Powerflex polybushes for the front ARB:

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/_IMG_1330.jpg

I've got hold of some part worn Pirelli Sotto Zero 16" rubber for the rears, in the hope I might actually be able to move when it snows this year. Will fling them on some old 7-series rims for a few months.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/_IMG_2010.jpg

A diagnosis by my local chap tells me the front brakes are now nearly goosed, so even though Yellowstuffs worked really well for me I'm giving these a bash, arrived today:

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/_IMG_2012.jpg

Just the pads unfortunately, will be looking for some standard floating discs pretty sharpish too.

Next up is the tricky bit....I really could do with not spending any more than I have to, however after 14 years she's looking a bit tatty. Wee bits of surface rust here and there, plus a wing I managed to crack the paint on through idiocy look terrible on a white car, so some paint is required.

Problem is, after this most recent ring trip, I can't stop thinking about going for a more aggro look at the same time :smash: Most people tend to go for the ltw wing, like so:

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/most12.jpg

However, I have a vision but is this too over the top for a sensible daily? STW wing:

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/IMG_4292.jpg

Plus GT splitter:

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d100/smabo/M3%20FVK/DSC_0283.jpg

I'd love to compliment it with more aggro wheels too i.e. CSL's in black however that's definitely not on the cards anytime soon. What do you reckon chaps, too in yer face for a daily? :)

Best place in the world mate, guaranteed :D That was my 4th trip this year, 3rd time driving it :smitten:

I'm dying to get to the Weekender again next year, only on the condition you don't host it the same bloody weekend I'm at a wedding again :D
