Really:eek: why is that then?
cages don't add that much do they - my premium for my golf wasn't too bad and that had a full cage...

Sorry But it seems to me like he had been to watch the rally, and decided to hammer the fook out of his car, pretending he was colin mcrae on the way home or whatever... Yeah the cage saved him, but what would also have helped was if he wasnt driving like a total cnut!!! Jeez... what if someone had been coming the other way while he was veering all over the road? I will tell you what... He would have been fine with his roll cage and whoever he crashed into would be DEAD!!!
BRING BACK THE :TOSSER: SMILEY!!!

My thoughts exactly. It's also quite disturbing that he seems completely oblivious to this glaringly obvious fact.
I understood that insurance companies don't like cages because they assume that you're going to go out and drive like this bell end, thus your premium goes through the roof. Could be wrong theough?

That sums up my understanding of it. The kitchen foil body panels on the 205's don't help though.

You can't pressume that that's the case dude, and besides which I know alot of us drive a little spirited (not drunk, just fastish ;) ) from time to time.. I personally am just happy to know that he did'nt die.....This makes me want to hurry up my purchase of a full cage, as without that he would have definatly been at the very least crippled for life.. 1 other thing I will say though, is that he should have had the cage padded, as he was also lucky that it did'nt cause more damage when he smacked his head off it..

I know we all drive a bit fast but thats what our cars are made for... but there is a time and a place for everything... And back country lanes aint the place for it... And judging from the impact damage and the distance from the road he was traveling very fast... Even after he must have slowed from heavy braking... A friend of mine is such a nutter, driving down back roads in excess of 100 leaptons in his evo... There is no call for it and its BLOODY DANGEROUS...
BTW your car looked sweet on sat, should see you at silverstone on the 25th :)

i dont condone this kind of driving at all but just wanted to say that 205 GTi's are very good at going quick on twisty roads, just as 200sx's are good on straights.
The confidence round corners you get driving a 205 Gti would amaze most of us 200sx owners (with standard suspension setups anyway) as we would be stomping on the brakes way sooner than a gti driver would.
This isnt an excuse for the guys driving (for all we know he is a highly experienced driver with advanced driver training) but just wanted to point out that as confident as we 200sx owners may be while driving at high speeds that our cars have been designed for just that purpose and can still stop safely, this guys may also have been confidant that on a deserted country road he could push his Gti and still remain in control.
we may all fcuk up eventually and i hope it never happens to any of us with or without roll cages.
Cheers,
Matt
Can see both spectrum & Phatty's POV. We all have a laugh once in a while and know when ease off the pedal. Its just that one time when the adrenaline rushing and you're mad for it that something like this happens...sod's law.
Although, with me its not been driving fast thats causes me to bash my cars, but unnecessary trips. Every single accident (minor-ish) I've had have all been from a quick drive here or there for something I could have bought or done at a later date:(
All said and done, the blokes alive and thats a good thing:thumbs:
Phatty, did u get those sausage cobs warmed up?..lol

BTW Pig... errr Pug 205's should be kept in maccys car parks!
Rajmo Behave you... :) Reason you have accidents is cause you are a sucky driver... LOL! :D
I have heard that you BOV it a little .... Quiet... :)
i will have some nice new bits this month...
Autometer A Pillar pod with Boost gauge and AFR (Wickedly trick)
Greddy Profec A Boost controller
Walbro Fuel Pump
HD Stage 1 Chip
think you are faster than me... Just Bring it.... ;)
I managed to hurt a micra and it looked far more deformed than that. No roll cage in that, just an airbag (didn't go off) and a fairly sturdy seat belt. Seriously, was able to climb out of the door (was on its side) despite it having rolled. Older cars, especially the hot hatch style, need a fair bit of help in surviving big accidents and that role cage more than likely saved his life.

Yeah, someplace like outside a school would have been much more suitable

WTF is that supposed to mean? I mean places like dual carriageways and motorways... NOT urban areas where anything like children running into the road etc can happen... Granted he was speeding down a country road but they are single carriage ways and should anything happen there is nowhere for a car on the other side of the road to go... I hope you are not implying that i speed outside schools etc... i rarely speed on the motorway! Jeez...
:censored:
The challenge has been set!! Better get yourself a roll cage spectrum;)
Have adjusted the HKS BOV..better. Gonna get a louder insert off Rob next weekish. Also temporarily fitted Blitz boost gauge this morning...cool. Just waiting for an Autometer pillar pod and jobs a goodun'.
Oh BTW, should have T/C soon with Launch Control, so better get your standing starts sorted:(

Calm down peeps:mad:  :o :o :):)

Nah, I just meant that it could have been worse (not the accident of course).
:annoyed: :D
Maybe I'm turning into a reactionary old git, but from what the guy posted about the crash, he deserved it.
"...suspension bottomed out..." What do you expect with two wheels, tools and 20 litres of petrol  in the boot?
"... then the pendulum effect started..." Should read, "I totally failed to catch it"
I can juggle balls pretty well, and I've done it with some silly things ( I was taught with glass tumblers!), but I would never contemplate trying it with running chainsaws, and if I did, would anyone have any sympathy with my resultant shortfall in the finger department? No. The guy's an idiot and was driving beyond his ability. Shit, have you looked at the photos of the road? S-bend? Where? It barely qualifies as a gentle curve! The only dodgy thing about it is the slight crest, which could upset you a little, but you could hardly fail to see it......
I have every sympathy for people who get caught out by weird road conditions, (diesel spills etc.) as speed has sod all to do with it (as Simon R will testify) but simply losing control is only as forgivable as the resulting incident is minor, if you see what I mean.
