More Pointless Policing (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/3108065.stm)

I can see future rallies going like this...

...Right 3, over Crest, into Left 2, GATSO, Left 4...

How long till they actually put Gatsos on the bloody stages as well

We'll in a way F1 has had it for a while, in the pit lane ;) except you only get a stop start penalty, wish it was like that on the roads. doing 85 on the motorway was you? right sit there for 5 mins and then bugger off.

Ill think you will find that they are supposed to do the speed limit between stages, same as the rest of us.

Just a thought, think how much fuel they could save (or waste, hence lightening the car) between stages....

TBH, I dont see a problem here as long as all the drivers were aware of local speed limits, which is actually there responsibility to do.

Just because they're professional drivers it doesnt give them the right to break the law. Everyone gets mad when a politician etc. gets away with speeding becuase of their fame, why should it be any different for a rally driver?

Because your average top rally driver is a mite better behind the wheel than some fat ignorant MP...

Ah, so we move onto the "grading system" of car licenses - the better you prove you are at driving the quicker you can go?

T'would be fun but a bit impractical methinks :)

Ive said this before - I have not got a problem being driven at high speed in little roads themselves, its the fact that the little old lady who is pulling out of her drive to go to the local coffee morning is not expecting a 1200kg projectile doing 120 coming down the road...

Steve and Barry know what Im talking about, as we've been "stuck" behind a slow car, effing and blinding, only to come round a bend at 25-30 to find said old lady reversing out of her drive... we would have collected her, simple as!

Rally drivers have always had to abide by speed limits between stages, there's nothing new here. As long ago as 20 years ago I remember Penti Arrikala (I think it was) being thrown out of the RAC rally for speeding between stages.

They take their chances like the rest of us, don't see any reason to have favoritism there.

Very true, defo don't condone speeding in 30s and 40s, but I bet they all get off with a ticking off:mad:
