So I now own an mx5, never thought i'd get one as i've never been much of a fan of them! but after driving it I cant believe how fun it is! So So Grippy! (although im more into drifting)
I have a few things lined up for it, but this is how it stands right now:

Its in relatively good condition really, a few marks on the body work here and there but the rear bumper has faded badly! (Being replaced for a fresher looking one! on its way already)
Its sitting on what look to be rota D1's...but they arent, so im unsure what they are lol! These are currently for sale now as I have some new wheels on the way from rota :)

A garage vary front lip......which makes the car IMO!

And i may get a hard top soon for it :)
My wheels turned up:
Rota - BM8 - 15x9 et0

More to come after this weekend when i've rolled the arch's and got these rims fitted, should be a bit of a task but do-able!
Looks nice! Someone sold you tyres that were too small though :p

yeah the blimmin buggers! :wack: haha
Nice.. i was the same when i first drove an MX5, two days later i went out and brought one lol..
Sadly sold it the other day because i dont want to keep two cars on the road so thought i would keep the 200 i just got instead..
The old MX5s are so responsive in the corners i love it, they are even pretty nippy :) I had a 1.8 uk model tho and the rot had set in quite nice lol

Damn, does that scrape?
Archeliners gone?
Jaymo_sx
27-08-2011, 17:11
not really :) the coilovers are maxed out all round. Sits nice, no scrubbing, took the arch liners out too. Just want to get the allignment done to preserve tyre life and it'll all be good. Got some other bits through the post today which im going to get to work on soon, And some other plans for the near future.

I asked, would stay with 15's if it affected ride, but 16's were a standard option apparently.:D
Highly tempted to go looking for one of these after my 14 goes.
Is it a 1.6? Quick? Slideable?
Jaymo_sx
27-08-2011, 18:10
its a 1.6 and skids fine....in the wet. Not tried much in the dry but i'd be tempted to pop a hard wearing clutch and light flywheel in to cope with kicking the clutch. Its quick enough :)
Looks good, exactly the same wheel fitment as my brother's MX5:
http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=502944
I think I am starting to get old....the stance looks really good, but that camber will be taking away so much of the good handling the mx5 is renowned for. Decent alignment was one of the best things I have done to mine and it would be impossible to align for optimum handing with those rims.
As I said though, it looks nice :)

I was never a fan of these cars as i thought they were for hairdressers but my dad ended up buying one and he let me drive it and i have to say they are a really fun little car, my dads is totally standard so I'm not to keen on the look of his and i keep saying he should buy a set of wheels to set it off but I really like yours mate :smitten: nice and clean and loving the wheels, i will show this to my dad to see if i can get him to buy some wheels :wack:
Keep up the good work mate

Took the mx5 to buxton yesterday with the intention of 'trying it out' and mainly focusing on taking pictures but ended up spending nearly the full 3 hour session on track!
Had very low expectations for drifting this given the situation:
15x9 heavy wheels
Dry/warm conditions
low powered 1.6 engine
no weight reductions lol
But I got to grips with it pretty quickly and it certainly does go sideways, made a couple adjustments to tyre pressures on the rear and it was fairly predictable!
Not only that, I used the wheels/tyres I drove there on and barely wore them down!
Did have 1 little incident with the wall (due to me being cocky trying to manji the straight) but damage was very light
I also destroyed my GV splitter on route to buxton :(
