If Ghosts existed then there would be 9 human ghosts walking this planet for every man woman and child currently in existence.

Apparently 10% of all human life that has existed on this planet is alive today.

Not sure about you but if the bastids exist then they could contribute to the mortgage and my car running costs ;)

knowing how much the mind can play tricks on you (particulally from my acid days ;) ) I would like to be able to put every weird thing that I think I've seen in my life, down to the mind playing tricks, however I just can't accept that, so my vote was maybe they do :)

Thats only if you assume that every person who dies becomes a ghost.

It goes without saying that no one really knows the answer but one theory I heard was that the majority of sightings are in old buildings with stone walls. Some of these walls may contain traces of copper which in the right conditions (high air charge due to storm of whatever) may produce a "recording" of some kind like a video or casette tape does. In some conditions this recording may be "played back".

As a scientist my first question would be "why hasnt there been a recording made since then?" but I did think that was quite an interesting argument. You can also extend that argument to question why are nearly all ghost sightings of people from 400 years ago? Why do you never hear of ghosts of people from the 80s in dodgy hair bands and stuff? :p

Like I say, no one knows, but as Danielle said there so much we cant explain I think it would be narrow minded to say definatley one way or the other.

THE afterlife, a definate. Ghosts as material manifestations of i'm not so sure about

Haven't seen any, but heard them!
Come back from clubbing in Mauritius around 3am and stick car in the garage.
Go up to bedroom and open window.
I hear footsteps of like women's heeled shoes outside with a crying baby walking on the pavement.
The footsteps are going from the left side of the house to the right. Have a look out the window (which over looks the road and pavement) and nothing there - however, the steps and crying baby noises are there literally in front of me walking from the left to the right of the house.
Thought it was just tiredness, so went to sleep and didn't think much of it.
The next night I get curious so stay up watching movies 'til 3am and look out for the same incident.
Once again, the exact same thing happens exactly at 3am!!!

I believe in ghosts from that day onwards.

Very much open minded about it. My Mum died a couple of years ago and about 6 months after her death I heard her call my name...it woke me up from my sleep and instinctively (must have been instinct...I can't explain it otherwise) I turned on to my side, curled up my legs to let 'her' sit down on the end of my bed. I didn't look down at the end of my bed but I felt her there.

I've tried to rationalise it by saying I heard my Mum call my name in my dream because I wanted to hear her...but I feel certain I wasn't dreaming. Whatever the experience was, it was very bizarre indeed.

I'm an ex-medium and basically have had enough proof to last me a lifetime, but not of ghosts (there is a difference).
Proof includes people telling me things that they could never know (and things that I couldn't have hinted at through subvocalisation, body language or otherwise) and me doing the same back. Plus getting one shoulder near paralysed one day.
Suffice to say I believe :)

Hmmmm nope sorry I can't get my head around ghosts at all personally and tbh I believe that the only form you exist in after death is the one you existed in prior to birth and that being a bunch of random atoms scattered around the universe.

Actually now I mention it do you realise we are all the same age? Our atoms have been in the universe (in one form or another) since time began and will remain so till the end of time.

Ooooooo my head hurts I'm off for a drink :)
