MX5/Eunos Roadster, First Drift Car!

So here's my story that you have probably heard many times...

I'm 22 and have owned EG civic's since I past my test and well ot bored so decided to buy myself something rwd to keep it interesting and well began to learn and love the way of drifting, at the time of buyin the car I was on a budget so ended up with the eunos. Its a 1.8i 1995 model imported in 1999 and has 147km on the clock and will hopefully see that again :S It is my daily drive as well as my drift toy, anyways...

I am a total noob when it comes to drifting etc but hey everyone starts some where! This is hopefully a start to what will become a decent enough car to drift! Ill start from when I first saw it rite up to date...

well this is my exhaust system, new stainless steal 2.75" pipe just need the de cat pipe then 'll get it fitted!!

spray painted the reflectors black..... i think they made a massive differene tp look of car!

I also polishd up back window wit greygate and its com out really really well, can actually see out of it crystal clear :) chuffed... no pic as yet as ill try n do a before n after pic!

Well these are my bucket seats I sourced, I know they are tatty etc but they were cheap!

I have spent the last two nights stiching up holes in them....... even gave myself a blister in the process :( but unfortunately these bloody holes, probably the most obvious aw well wont stich up!

so my plan is to go to a fabric shop/place and get a bit similar/same as the seats and the square section where ut arse would be when sat in them will be covered with it to hide all the holes and make it look kinda good lol might even put a thin bit on foam down first :)

so I spend about 2 hours fabricating subframes to get these to fit with the runners off the stock seats but they are in....

painted the wiper blade arms black with some laqure as they were a bit shabby looking before

Oil, Filter, Plugs and leads changed out!

Mint thank you for a lend of ur old boot lid, mines is currently in my grandas garage waitin for the tiger seal to set but this is a couple pics of it placed on to the car with mints lid just before I fitted to my lid;

To completely bring this right up to date the latest is,

arriving this week is......

- Exedy paddle clutch
- First pair of wheel spacers
- De cat Pipe

Also would need to update some pics of the bucket seats as they are refurbed now and the style bar is remoed and replaced with a cabin brace, I have an HKS filter with the heat shield that came with it as well that is not pictured....... I cant think of anythin else that istn pictured but im sure there is more!

Well the latest thing to be fitted to the car is a harness bar (which I still need to polish) and some very short tailed harnesses (think they are ment for a kit car) they fit perfect into the 5 only adjusted at ur chest and either side of buckle!

Sorry for the poor pics and crap in the car but we haven't exactly had good weather lately and it was raining when I fitted all this so that'll have to do for now.

Yeah I wasn't sure when I bought it, I mean I liked it and wanted it but I got told scare stories of how uner powered they are etc but I can not fault it! It is reliable and skids pretty well, im not disappointed about the lack of power either. The car is awsome fun and I cant see myself getting bored of it too soon :)

next on the list is a hard top!

Yeah slowly but surely its coming along! Just bought a flat and thats eaten all my money up..... might need to put the car on hold for a while but I NEED a hard top :(

thanks for the postive comments, im always up for suggestions as well so let me know them :) unless its the standard comment of put arches on and get a more dishy wheel, kind heard that too much now and its not no.1 on the priority list :P somthing different you know, something thats not normally done?

So was a nice day and had nothing to do so I went out and washed and polished the 5 since I had driven it about a bit! Only new things I suppose is the new hand brake handle and grip tape (got a hydro waiting to be fitted some time soon though when I get pipe and make a new handle for it!) and more stickers on the window....

Also away to change my trs tow straps that hang down out for new adjustable ones and ill cut holes in the bumpers for them to stick through so nothin get pulled the wrong way if/when they need to be used!

Picked up a roll bar type thing, not sure yet what the plan is more welding maybe required than first thought or I might jsut fit it as it..... however the colour of paintin it is getting to me so if anyone could help it would be good! you all know the roll bar will be both seen from inside and outside the car so, My steering wheel is light green with gold sparco writing and my dash lights up green and I have a light green gear stick all colour coding with inside..... I have gold wheels and dark green wheel nuts on the out side , question is what colour do I do the roll bar and ill paint the harness bar same colour too????


So buffed up my roll bar thing and well didnt exactly fit! so.... a good freinds of mines dad is goin to butcher it and weld it up properly for me :) will end up acing more as a safety device than for show by the end of it and I have chosen a colour to paint roll bar and ill do the harness bar the same, so pics after the weekend hopefully when its in!

But in the time being I have fitted a new adjustable tow strap to the front and re arranged the rear to work a little better!

Plans before crail on the 7th are Oil and Filter change and I also just bought a replacement filter for the HKS mushroom induction kit, after crail I will be changing/upgrading the front pads and discs, might as well knacker whats left of what I have still got then change them after lol


So been pretty busy this morning! Roll bar thing not done as yet but time was not wasted, I managed to Do an oil/oilfilter change (Mobil oil/champion filter), Air filter change (HKS triple layer filter), cold air pipe (aluminum 3" collapsible pipe for it to be squashed and easy to work with), fit and paint vented head light lid....
