Is camping just on a first come, first served basis, or do the clubs get there own camping areas?

It will be good if the whole club is in the same area :D

I was wondering that too vega as I will be camping on Friday and Saturday... hopefully some of the Skyline lot will be there (not very organised us lot  ) if not I will be the billy-no-mates on me own!!

Anyone know what the camping deal is? I am guessing its a free-for-all...???

Good question, a lot of us seem to be arriving Friday afternoon so I guess we will pitch up together. If there are fellow SXOC peeps already there we'll pitch with them. Wether that is in a particular place for the club I don't know. Perhaps we should earmark a quiet corner so as many of us as possible can pitch? Bring a bike/skateboard for trips to the bog;)

We need Steve or one of the other guys to jump in here....

Okely dokely peeps, have a look at the Billing map. Ive marked where the SXOC stand is and where I suggest we try to camp.

A good location I think as its close to the roads, toilet block and shower block so no need to go sprinting across guy rope infested fields in an attempt to not throw up on the grass.:D

Looks good to me:thumbs:

I may be bringing a semi-detatched tent (things fooking huge)

I think it may well have a garage:wack:

(I should be able to put a couple of people up if anyone gets stuck LOL ) :D

Can we not park our tents on the stand as well? Behind the cars or somut? Or do we have to camp in the camping are?

If you can squeeze 80 cars and tents into a pitch designed for only 80 cars, and be bothered to take the tent up and down each night then feel free.:D

Genrally speaking though we dont leave the cars on the stand overnight, they get parked in the camp are next to your tent..... Handy hint: If your car isnt alarmed then tie a guy rope to a wheel, you should (unless unconscious through alcohol:)) wake up if someone tries to nick your car.

Ha, like that last comment, thats cool, was a little worried about leaving the car on the stand and me in a tent miles away...... but if we are movin them thats ok..............BUT are there gonna be enough sober peeps to move 80 odd cars in the evening? !

Does it cost extra to camp? Do I have to tell them I'm camping at the gate on the way in? :)

I on the other hand have a tent which consists of two aluminium poles and a water proof sheet:rolleyes:

It seemed more than sufficient when the weather was nice:cry:

But at least I'll be dry if it rains:D

I've borrowed it from my Dad (that's what Dads are for after all:p )

I didn't realise quite how 'basic' it was until he put it up. He used to be in the RM's and for him it was the height of luxury (you don't get wet:eek: )

But it'll di. If the weather gets really bad i'll sleep in the *****

It's £14 per tent per night to camp. If you're not camping it's about £4 per car to get in for the day

Dave_S

That is a good point though. This means we can't drink (read "Get totally wnakered") until the cars are moved :(

I've just looked where that is and being close to the road it's likely that there will be campers already there as it's on the main route through and one of the first places usually filled, if that's the case we could go further up that field towards the river. There are toilets up there too so proximity to them won't be a problem. Might even be nicer to be nearer the river than the road? Certainly handier for dunkings.....

Just don't leave your tent open or you'll wake up with a duck  If you can't remeber the previous night this may come as somewhat of a shock to some of you :D

I don't know, I got the info from the Billing website http://www.billingaquadrome.com/rates2.php I wasn't aware of a special deal for JAE. How do you get that price then, tell the guy on the gate you're with JAE? Anybody could do that and get cheap camping...

erm, I think the prices yog got Wak are the ones for a proper camping pitch. I'm not sure tho... I'll phone them and check this afternoon :)

Midgers
24-07-2003, 13:54
okay, phoned em, if you produce a Car Club membersip card on the gate it's £9 a night for camping, otherwise it's £14 a night :)

Wak
24-07-2003, 13:55
Yeah it says this :

"Nightly rates per unit (i.e. car, caravan (inc. awning), motorhome or tent, up to 6 people & the dog!)"

Which I thought was stange, having the same rate for a caravan and awning as a small tent.

So if i tell my mates not to tell the people on the gates that they aren't camping (although they are staying in my tent) then do they get in cheaper???

I don't know about that, I have a similar thing, Mrs Wak is coming down later in another car and I don't want to pay twice. I'll ask the guy on the gate what the crack is. If they want to charge me twice I'll pay for a car for one day or walk out with my car pass and meet the mrs outside.

Well the way im looking at it is that your paying for the pitch of the tent aswell so you cant surely have to pay that twice or even 3 times in my case for one tent  My head hurts, lol

Your tent fee covers six people according to their website, but they might try and charge you for the extra cars.

Wak
24-07-2003, 14:24
According to the lady I just spoke to at Billing I can ask the guy at the gate for an extra car pass when I pay for the camping and I just have to meet the wife at the gate with said pass so she can get in
