And I'm loving it.
It's a genuine sport, 5 spd Manual, with all the Navigation and bluetooth gadgets, 19" wheels and xenon lights. It's been remapped and had the EGR Bypassed so really picks up well for a bg car. Suprisingly so in 2nd ad 3rd.

I've been looking at these since before my Skyline finally went to sweden and for about a month afterwards. This one came up in Whitehaven with 134k on the clock for 5200. I've seen a few with 70, 90 and 110k on and none of them felt as tight and fresh as this. So it might have been a little higher priced than most but when I saw it I just couldn't pass it up.
SO comfy. SO nice to drive. 5 speed box means you're not changing gear every 5 seconds ether. It might as well be an auto because you can set off in 2nd pop into 4th and keep it there from 30 all the way up to motorway speeds.
Awesome Car.:smitten:

Looks very nice mate. I'm finding myself more and more drawn to a BMW. The diesel part doesn't put me off at all, I'm just worried it would feel heavy compared to an s body. What's the verdict?

Midgers

It certainly feels a LOT heavier than an S body yeh. Bigger in every sence really though. Still shoves you in the back good enough to raise a smile and an "ooff" from an unsuspecting passenger. Not wollowy or vague though being a Sport. SE's feel too soft and bardge like for me.

I only picked it up on Sunday though and drove it back from the Lakes to Scotland. Spent most of the time fiddling with the gadgets though so not really chucked it about much yet.

I'll remedy that soon enough.

Hmmm ok I didn't realise the sport suspension made that much of a difference. Guess it's time to try one myself....... :D looks very clean too, good luck with it

Would be good to hear your thoughts on the handling once you're used to it, reckon it would be fun at the 'ring?

I like the 3 series touring but not a fan of the 5 series touring.

If youre keeping the Disco Mark, get the saloon

I would have had a touring too if the right one came up. My wishlist was 530d sport manual. Not silver but only because my last car was silver. Not that I dislike it. Leather was not Important and neither was the navigation because I would have bought the ?dinan? Unit that ken has in his e46. Anything else was just a bonus.

Trying to fing one that's not silver though is near impossible. If this one was a nail I was gonna see about autos. The box is good strong unto 100k it seems. It's a sealed for life unit according to BMW but specialists will open them and change the fluid and the solenoids that fail and cause them to pop. Very nice to drive and completely effortless. Worth considering as they are a lot more common and still return decent mpg

should've bought mine :D (it's not silver either!)
looks good though, i don't *need* the touring any more, I do prefer the look of the saloon, but i don't think the touring's a bad looking car either :)

Yer mine will be an Auto

I think they look good in silver but so fooking common :wack: I have seen some saloons i like in black but know how much of a pain a black car is to own :wack:

I think it would be black and White different to the skyline or an sbody. Heavier, torque ier, not as reliant on being at the top o the rev range to get the best from it. It would still be awesome though I think because it should really pull out of the steep corners.

I'll have to start to talk Katherine round to a trip ;)

I saw yours mate, but like with your Audi that I nearly bought it's the logistics of getting to you that put me off :)

Next mod has to be LED Halo bulbs - infact I ordered some this evening. Then I'm going to look at shorter shifters as the throw on the box is massive compared to my old Skyline.

Stidi

short shift is do-able
http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=78871

EDIT - forgot to say, had a look for that part number and it appears to be a z4 shifter, so could be cheap enough to get one on ebay, that means it might even allow you to use a short shifter for the z4? :)

Midgers

Cheers pal.
I've read that an E60 535 shifter is a bit shorter and the Z boxes are shorter again, then you can get short shift kits for Z's yeah - so I need to try one first I think. I don't want a race feel to it. I want to keep it nice to drive.

How much were the angel eye bulbs and where from? my e39 needs these they dont bring up bulb failures do they? Guessin they have the resistors to prevent the warnings. Also what LED number plate bulbs did you use?

Midgers
28-05-2011, 01:15
For the plates bulbs I used http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/car-mod-shop-ltd/ search for Canbus e39 plate bulbs £8.88
The headlights were from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/hids-direct/ search for LED marker angel eyes £29.99
:)
The don't strobe or bring up errors on the dash. They'd have gone straight back if they did as they were advertised as such.
And thirty quid for 2 LED's is pretty steep, but they come in the complete holders with all the correct plugs and wiring. literally swap them straight in. takes about 30 seconds.
