Well, it's time to put up my new project!

I've had it 4 weeks now and I can honestly say, the most fun car i've had to date....... 196 hp and 262 ft/lb torque, riding comfortable and fast with no knocks and bangs... plus it's not RUSTING like a Nissan!

Ok; here goes the spec!

BMW E30 325i
4 door
93000 miles
Enlarged Throttle Body
6 Branch Manifold
Straight Through Exhaust
JOM Coilovers
Whiteline Anti Roll Bars
Sparco Strut Brace
Welded 325i Diff
25mm Hubcentric Spacers
OG Axis Wheels (8j et25)

Since I've had it, it's had a full oil/water change; new thermostat and ICV.

Normally I just give my car to the latest garage and pay for the works. With this car I'm going to be doing it differently. I think with enough time I can do anything that I have the tools for!

So on saturday I decided to re-adjust the valves/tappets. Had a blonde moment and thought I'd screwed it up! But I did it well and it's not running even better!

http://www.the-nthdegree.co.uk/E30/3.jpg

So continued the day and rotated the oil filter housing so I could fit the standard oil filter again as the Fiat Uno unit was a little "small"
Problem was I needed a 24mm spanner, and I didnt have one so thanks to I <3 Boost for driving down and grabbing one. What a legend he was that day!

To finish the day, added some spacers to the front/rear and the fitment is MADNESS! Ethel's got SWAGGER!

Thats it for now, this is a keeper and I've found out it's worth ALOT more than I paid for it!

TheChin
17-05-2011, 08:36
Yeah it won't end up being tramped but it will be restored in my own special way!

It's definately fun, it's getting the Pablo/Arch Enemy treatment saturday as it's rubbing ....... ALOT! It's going in for waxoyl in the next month and will start this week at tidying the engine bay!

More pics to come :)

Silane
22-05-2011, 23:12
Are you going to put m-sport (or equivalent) bumpers/kit on it?

TheChin
23-05-2011, 07:58
Nope don't think so, trying to keep it stock and the trim the same as standard, it's not an mtech so won't pretend to be. I like the black bumpers! Haha

MEL
23-05-2011, 08:16
It looks incredibly tidy in the flesh

Did you get the rear spacers put on saturday? by the time i got back from DMS only pabs and dal were still there

TheChin
23-05-2011, 08:25
Yeah baby but ran out of time to roll so thanks to Arch Enemy rep Pablo13 for doing Sunday service, the beast is rolling at et-5 all round. Few more suspension mods to go but looking hard as nails.

Got a good reception Saturday seems my mani/exhaust setup pleased a few

Silane
23-05-2011, 08:56
Are you taking it all back to standard then? Is it a restoration jobby?

Must admit, I've always wanted an E30. :)

Edit - just seen your post above, I guess it's not going to be kept standard.

TheChin
23-05-2011, 09:24
It's going to be a restoration build with a little added flare. Having all the creature comforts but with a bit of stance and good looks!

The bodywork needs very little attention so will save costs by using what i have. I quite like the bumpers as they are. Stealth is the name of the game.

chin i text stew saying this sounded the tits, i love this ride so make her sweet dude!! oh and dont forget to do all bolts up in future! i dont wanna make u do the walk of shame again :)

TheChin
23-05-2011, 17:52
Was such a noob that day! Anti theft is on the cards now got some world first installations coming. Compressed air ankle breakers and flame throwers!!

Thanks dude I'm so happy with it. Need to invest in some new bump stops to stop extreme rubbing! It's definately the best sounding car ive ever had

Easy007
23-05-2011, 19:11
I like :)

Unfortunately you've got me hankering for the 325i Mtech 2 i've always wanted but never owned.

TheChin
23-05-2011, 19:28
Problem with the MTech 2, from very reliable sources is that they RUST behind the bumpers to hell. Even second hand, they are rotting just for the kits!

MEL
25-05-2011, 17:02

At least you didn't run out of petrol :wack:

sxbaz
25-05-2011, 17:09
Dammit, whad i miss?

our man mr chin put spacers on but forgot to torque up one side, so had a wheel doing some big woobles on the mcdonalds run, anyway i went and found him to get the nuts done up, but the breaker bar was too big so did them up with my small socket set, then the wheel got loose again coming into the industrial estate.

so i made chinny do the walk of shame and walk from dals to the car but to give him his credit, he finally came back with the mcdonalds!

I DO NOT LIKE MAKING WIRING LOOMS!

That said; I made myself.

I've stripped it down a tad, to get rid of anything I don't need. Also; performed a 3 hours continuity check on EVERY connection to make sure no problems and inspected the wires for any breaks/tears or cuts.

Reason I had to do it; is because the loom on my car at current has been rubbing for 20 years and half of it is exposed.....

Here are some pictures of my new loom; pretty happy with it tbh and it's helping me alot with doing everything myself.

One problem for the day was; a manifold to rocker cover stud snapped.. Again; never had this problem but google + iphone4 = Win and it was removed, replaced and locktighted in place.

All rocker retaining clips were changed aswell, at a cost of £21 inc VAT and new engine has been sorted; I'm going to build my own for when this one eventually goes... (the valves are NAKERED and a little low on compression)

Anyway; here all the pictures!

It's time to tell a little story.

Dal: "Hello Chin, you sexy MOFO!"
Chin: "Hello Dal, you bald sexual tyranasaurus!"
Dal: "Your wheel bearing feels a little loose"
Chin: "Fu*k it, it will last"
Dal: "You need to change it."
Chin: "Yes, but Fu*k shit up factory rules state I am not allowed to fix, only Fu*k SHIT UP!"

Move a few weeks

Chin: "Let's go street drifting"
Chin's Other Half: "Ok, you are a twat"

Hour later

Chin: "Oops, didnt mean to spin into that little roundabout"
Chin's Other Half: "Told you, you are a twat"

..............

Well, I knocked the little bearing to full on fu*ked shit up bearing!!! Re-installed a new one, £60 later and its fine.

Here is the old bearing!
