View Full Version : Redline... (again)
well, saw a copy on the shelf (and no, wasn't about to buy it before you ask!), but wanted to have a look to make my mind up for myself after the recent arguments involving Dan and others.
Two problems.
One, it was in a sealed bag. How are you ever going to get casual browsers to buy it if it is sealed?
Two, contrary to what was posted a wee while ago, the cover slogans were something like this:
Babes in cars
Babes in bikinis in cars
babes in bikinis with tyres...
etc etc etc
bascially scantily clad women hiding what I can only assume must have been dodgy paintjobs or summat...
I really wanted to look at the mag to make my mind up. But I've made it up off the front cover and am sad that inspeit of recent comments, it really doens't seem to be anything other than a fleshrag.....
I'm not having a go, just my opinion. And I've got my flame proof undies on, so go for it.
Ponyman you couldn't be more...
correct  :D
Keep it up JB. And in bigger type please
agree on that entirely. And the sealed bag jobbies are just plain annoying! The last fastcar/redline (one or the other) i bought had "modded 200sx" written at the bottom of it so i bought it on the strength of that statement - and it some horrid s14 from australia with flames all over it :(
i agree, mags for weak minded fools who eat MacDonalds and drink Pepsi :@)

Disagree, I brought it today. the reason it came in a cover because it had a poster and another mag in there, FHM,Top gear etc all do this. yep both flesh rags but the mag itself is ok. IMO it's not the same as max power et el. There isnt scores of kitted novas and such, what there was had some good power outputs as well as taking a clean look approach to bodywork. There is a good feature on god of the pod which norris won. a good write up on japfest. and article on the ten of the best trials for the rs turbo boys, an intresting bit about that medic who got caught speeding and a kid that killed someone in his car. most of the other mags seem childish and purile, Redline is more of a mix of lads mag and a car mag, kind of maxim meets evo. If your intrested and cant pluck up the courage to buy it in a news agent I'll bring it to billing ;)

The cover you saw was refering to the extra magazine inside and the poster not redline, while the bold print refered to a 312bhp punto, then the worlds fastest cossie, alpine m3, redline rumble, god of the pod .

The editor of Redline magazine (Dan Lewis) is a mate of mine. He's actively sympathetic to 200s and Skylines.

thats a plus but I would still buy it even if it wasnt. when you read the features they sound like they've been written by someone who knows what theyre talking about. I have had a good look through this months and I cannot find any tech errors at all, unlike jap performance who thinks a s14 has a 1.8 with a t25:rolleyes: and theyre supposed to represent the jap community.
I must say Im thinking about cancelling my subscription to JP and getting redline deliverd each month, at least they know what the **** theyre talking about. so what if it has a few women here and there, at least it give me and the misses something to argue about which looks the best. the tech articles are second to none, and done with a passion and coupled with knowledge, ffs sake look at that fapping bm the boss has. I say go out buy a copy of max p and redline, then you will see what the differences are, max p kiddie shite and bilge, redline fact's,knowladge and passion.
What I would realy like to see is Redline coming to billing and putting together a good feature on what goes on and the passion amoungst us, at the moment I think only Banzai could equal them, then again they could prove me wrong and do better.

I'll be sure to pass on your positive comments and I'll tell him to get his arse to Billing!

312bhp Punto? Ripper, take note!
I'm not being funny Nate, but are you being serious? Again, not being funny, just ... well... wondering...
So if that was teh extra mag and the poster... the whole point of the bag was lost on me... LOL... and I'm working in advertising LOL...
Like I said, these were only personal opinions based on a want to know more after the previous thread.
