Hi everyone.
Just purchased a nissan silvia s14a
The speedo is giving the wrong reading, just wondered if anyone knew why? i checked the reading on the clock against the reading on my satnav and it seems that when im doing 30, the speedo reads 60, when im doing 80 it reads 40 etc..the clock is a MPH clock not KMPH.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Dave

Silvia would indicate its an import so someone has made an arse of the conversion from kph to mph

i add a similar problem i put a 180sx box in my s14a and the speedo was well out turned out to be a diffrent speed sencor
normally it's the converter chip messing about, any car importer place should be able to sell you a new chip to fit, or fit it for you....

dont suppose you can suggest one? Or give me the contact details for one? idealy close to birmingham lol
afraid not, but a google search should show the nearest import specialist to you :)

Im starting to think that being out by double is to much to be a calibration thing... been reading a lot on the net into it and it seems ive probably got the wrong gearbox sensor... when i get chance to get under the car and take a picture of the sensor ill post it on here... so people can compare it to what they have and let me know. (if there kind enough lol)
It seems a lot of people have had this issue but theres no real "this is what you need to do" available on the net...
Someone has used UK clocks in a jap car.. just change the sender in the gearbox till a uk one and it will read better.. Also the diffs are different ratios, so it will never read excat.

Nah, found out the cars got a ca gearbox... so the ratio on the sender gear is different...i might get a proper s14 box for it at some point... ill wait till the clutch wears out or something lol

As suggested, you can change the sender to the SR one.
They do look very different but are interchangeable.
