I am running 255/35 and 225/40 18" Tyres at the moment but seem to struggle with front end grip with bad understeer. I have falkens on the front and vredestein sessanta's on the rear.

The alignment is fine to STD spec and have 31psi front and 29 psi rear.

What tyre would you guys recommend for the front that will also last ok? Or would different alignment settings be more beneficial?

I have coilovers and all polybushed too.

What are your thoughts?

When does it understeer? Slow tight corners, fast long corners or something else?

I was struggling at Combe round quarry and the slower ones. Really slow round the chicanes seemed ok.

I'd possibly recommend a different allignment setup?

If it helps I have a little but of inward toe, and 1.5degrees of negative camber. I have to admit, with road tires I did suffer from understeer (on Goodyear eagle F1's). But with Toyo R888's, it's not a problem at all.

However after having been out on track recently before swapping over to summer tires (I was running Falken 452's on the rear and Toyo TR1's on the front). To my amazement I hardly suffered any understeer, so whether the front alignment has sorted it or the tires, I'm not sure.

I am really impressed with the Falcons, once warm they are incredibly grippy and predictable for such a hard tire and they really last.

You need more camber than that with R888s really Steve to get the heat into them!

Quarry is quite bumpy, did you have trouble in Camp as well (last corner)? Might be worth knocking the damping down a touch on the front.

A 235 might not go amiss. I have 225s and 255s on my 13 atm (albeit in 17" flavour) and find it more understeery than it was previously with a 235 up there.

Maybe the whiteline setup? Im not sure what my damping was set up to actually. What would be recommented softer front or rears?

If you were getting understeer, drop the fronts. It might be that it was skipping slightly and the softer damping might help it to bite a bit better.

I will try stiffening the rear up as it is pretty soft, certainly not as hard as it could be.
