Anyone ever been there? It's just around the corner from me, and it's disused. Do they ever do anything with it? Would be a fantastic playground I guess. Not sure how bad the surface is now. Also, I just noticed there are some houses over there. :/

Just did a bit of searching and :
It's not unused mate, it's often used by the police as a training ground for pursuit stuff, Genesis Rider training use it and it's also sealed off and has security guards at the entrance
I guess it was too good to be true.
And to add to that, any 'potential' land with houses that close to it is almost guaranteed to be an instant 'no' I'm afraid dude :(

I don't think there is anything remotely interesting in the area to have a little play. What's the nearest to Guildford? Thruxton circuit?
Are there any SXOC organised trackdays in Surrey?
Brands is your closest :)

An hour away, that's not too bad I guess. Do the SXOC do any trackday deals there? Would like to hit the track one day, but some of the prices are

I know other clubs have used the TG track at Dunsfold near Guildford

I take my MTB round here when the weather is good, the strip has a series of fences and gates across it, the large open area where the buildings used to be on the right is very poor.
Loads of breaks in the seams and masses of weeds coming up through.
Not much use for us tbh :(

Ah I see, all those years of neglect ey.

This annoys me greatly.
if i ever won the 6 x euromillion rollover, i'd buy a place like that, then get a CPO served on all the houses with in reasonable earshot, then rent the houses out, if you dont like the noise then move out.
probably do a "resort" like the top gear boys went to in America in their Xmas trip/film
It's a real shame we can't use the test track near Surrey Rolling Road as that looks great (not that it's actually open)... isn't going to happen though:(

I looked into a few years back mate, it was mega money and only one car on at a time :(
Things may have changed though, I'll make some enquiries

Nothings changed, other than you now need 1 million pound liability insurance :wack:

It is used quite a bit. I cycle over it most weeks to go to the pub :wack:
A film set was constructed there recently (some WW1 trench war thing) and it is going to be turned into a waste incinerator at some point. The planning has been approved anyway.
There is a model airplane club that operate on there most weeks too.
The surface isn't great and there are barriers all over the airfield presumably to stop people driving on it :( plus the farmer has load of tractors/trailers and ag equipment all over the runway…shame.
It`s good for teaching people to drive on, I learnt on there and have given Debbie a few lessons on there not good for much else driving wise though.
