How are you lot getting on with your motors, and are you like me rushing to get things finished before the big day(s)?
Mine SHOULD be ready if it all goes ok, if not its off in the pug again for a second year

Well my GT4 wont be ready, so I'm gonna have to go in my 200 this year
Just cosmetic stuff, new spoiler on the way but I've no idea when I'm going to be able to paint it and fit it, and that's assuming my tailgate doesn't need repairing under the existing spoiler
Might be turning up at Billing with a pear-shaped spoiler if I don't manage it

You can feck off. It's a 30 minute job FFS.
think its been confirmed today that i have just about fcuk all chance of being there in the 200 :(
Although to be fair, if they release the car to me i'm gonna attempt it, even it it goes bang on the way up there - aint as if i'll lose anything apart from a gallon of oil
Dum dee dum.....
Zorst should arrive this week for fitting this weekend, and my rump valve is stuck 1/2 open too  so my tuby is only spooling up at 4.5k  off to remove and then hit with hammer
Unemployed atm, so dont really wanna buy another dump valve if I can help it!

Thats the best quote so far
The others were £80 (at least) and £120. Didnt trust the first one, hes only £19 for MOT but he will make easy jobs sound like a damn mission
The guy its booked in with, was calm and relaxed, said it was a piece of piss (which it is) so hes honest.
So if ita a piece of pi$$ why is he charging £70  you should do it yaself if its that easy

just undo the 5 pipes, the 3 plugs, the 3 nuts, swap them over, plug and screw it all back together & get a mate round and bleed the brakes.
If you haven't a mate order 6 'speed bleed' valves.

best get ordering then rofl :D
sorry, couldnt resist that one ;)
SpeedyPete
16-07-2003, 12:48
I cant get to the bleed valves through/behind my s13 standard alloys.
I cant even get the wheel off cos of the overall POO of the locking wheel nut, its gonna need hydrolic tools to get it off

That may be a problem that the mechanic will have to know.

Buy a smaller sized socket from Halfrauds, then wack it over the nut with a big hammer and undo it
You gonna ruin a socket and the nut, but at least you can get the wheel off then

Agreed. I did the same and it worked a treat. I bough 2 17mm sockets, wrecked both of them but saved myself £60.

I've not got much left to do:
Engine to go in,
Exhaust frontpipe to fabricate,
Finish smoothing in sideskirts,
Finish fitting Kouki rear lights ( - Don't buy that kit with the fibreglass panels if you're fitting it yourself)
Get the brakes working
Fit new bumpers if they turn up in time!
Fit spoiler - if I can be bothered,
Paint everything that needs doing :),
MOT,
TAX,
Sort some form of insurance out  :(
If I dont get it finished by next Thursday, then I'll have to put a new driveshaft on the BMW and come down in that . Why do things break at the most inconvenient time???

Dan,
Agreed, Mr Mechanic won't be too happy when he finds this confronting him. He'll probably bump up the price to reflect this

I've never taken the wheels off any car to bleed the brakes, I don't expect to 200 to be any different

nah, warned him of that, I told him while hes there he can stick my new alloys on ;)
Im sure its a piece of piddle with the car jacked up in the air but i cant see any way of doing it with it just sat on the ground. I just visualise, getting the rusty nipple off, it pissing fluid everywhere, and then being a nightmare to refill the braking system cos Ic ant see what im doing!
Then again Im not a mechanic, I work in electronics!

Well, at that point the alloys will be on, ABS working, boot done, soooooooo induction kit fitting (and attaching of earth to injector earth device) and Tax.
Induction kit not a biggy, if all else fails Im gaffer taping the old KS panel filter ove the AFM to get me there :D

Got to wait for the block, head and flywheel (lightening) to be finished at the machining place, then the bottom end has to be balanced, then need to do electric fan conversion, get zorst fabricated, then filter and put it all back under he bonnet!
hmmm lets see...........
remove subframe, and diff.
try and somehow remove the subframe pin that is not at any point to be removed, by cutting a hole in the boot floor and knocking the shit out of the chassis beams.
sort out fuel tank
waxoyl complete back end
waxoyl fuel tank
rub down, paint and waxoyl diff and subframe
remove old subframe bushes and fit new ones from Steve
make up new straps to hold fuel tank
change diff
re-fit subframe and diff
re-fit fuel tank
Paint calipers again
remove engine+gbox
fit dano pipe (if it arrives on time)
fit 2 larger studs to exhaust manifold supplied by super jibber
replace PAS pump
waxoyl engine bay
re-paint all the purple bits ive scratched to fcuk with all me banging about.
replace front crank oil seal
finally make a proper cold air box instead of fcuking about with cardboard.
fit new samco's to IC
Make that bloody scooby vent usefull for once
re-fit engine+box
sort out some interior stuff
re-fit rear bumper, panel and lights
complete the secret mod, which may remain secret unless i get to do it.
.......................think thats bout it.
Oh and help dobergoose re-fit his gbox too
I can see a few of these dropping back to the "after Billing" list somehow.
Oh and the after billing list is muuch bigger.
will my car ever be finished??????????
probably not
