Strange sound from engine [Archive]

After a headgasket and complete cooling system replacement on my 190, the engine is making a different sound to what it used to make. It's not a noise I'd be worried about if it had done that from the start it's just different to what it used to be.

Is this to be expected? Is it a case of it bedding in? Or should I get the garage to take a look?

Different in what way?

If it's not a tapping or knocking noise and the note of the engine is different then it's probably just that you're getting much better compression than you were before :)

Firstly I didn't flame someone. I simply commented that it was there first ever post and it was about buying a BMW. Not a flame merely my sarcasm.

Secondy if you are intelligent enough to use the search facility you will know that the Non 200 related section contains quite az number of technical posts that are Non200 related.

That usually involves asking questions about vehicles that aren't 200s - like A*tras and stuff?

I just read JB's post and I don't think he flamed him, just expressing surprise that the guy was asking about BMWs in his first post on a 200SX bulletin board. I don't think Beemer took offence either so I don't see why you had a problem Andy. Everyone on here posts about other cars etc, it's just a bit unusual for someone to come on with a first post about BMWs.

It's a shame so many people do actually believe they are faking every single thing. Wrestling is blunt, often dull, often insulting, often racist entertainment, yet quality personalities suffer all sorts of injuries. To be honest, having looked at number of forums when works a little on the slow side, I've always found SXOC more plesant than most, with the flaming being less than most other sites. JB and his 200 'Nova/Saxo' SX sig. makes me crease up and the usual plesant banter makes for a nice atmosphere.

Pity it seems to be going the same way as Scoobynet and the boy racer forums.

IMO Mycroft was pretty funny - offensive but pretty funny.

People 'trolling' to start arguments isn't funny, intelligent or useful. If you take the pi55 out of someone cos they've made a fool of themselves, or if a comment raises a laugh then fair enough but I can't see the point in slating someone or starting an argument for starting an arguments sake.

I know it sounds sad but if you're on the board alot, people tend to know if a comment you make is to be taken in jest. I haven't seen much of St Andy or even know if he's a member but as a newcomer (or an infrequent poster) he seems to come across as a little arrogant. His argument wasn't constructive just offensive and looking for a fight - whats the point?

These type of forums in my opion are a benefit to those who share a similar interest. Its just a pity that politics and Troll's eventually get in the way.
