I had to pay my cars taxes for the next year couple of days ago. How much do you have to pay for a whole year? Most people here are obviously from UK, but not all are as me being from Germany and I also noticed other countries like Italy, Swiss, Netherlands, Skandinavia... etc.

Ill start with Germany:

S13: 205€ (~142£)
S14: 122€ (~84£)

From 2004 or 2005 (dont know the exact date in the moment) on theyre raising the taxes, S14 is 147€ (~102£) then, bastids

about £160 in the UK for both S13 and S14.

How much do you pay for fuel over there??

Depends on what you want:

1.05€ Super unleaded, 95 octane
1.10€ Super Plus unleaded, 98 octane

This is what you get everwhere. Shell offers a new fuel which is called V-Power. Its 100 Octane and comes in a whopping 1.20€

All values are per litre and are approx as it varies a bit every day.

Damnit, I remember the good old days when I got my license and petrol was 0.60€... :(

Oh and if anyone cares, Diesels about 0.85€ a litre.

Think its £160 per yeat ATM here, or you can pay 6 monthly, which is probs £70 per 6 months.

Fuel prices in Germant seam spot on for here to, about 70p a litre, see: http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi

How come the tax is so much cheaper for your s14?? do you get cheaper tax on newer cars cause of the emissions??

I dont really know, the cars tax systems pretty complicated here. Cars are put in groups, depending on their emissions. The S13 is Euro1, S14 is Euro2, this goes up to Euro4 which is the newest class.

Every group has a tax for every 0.1 litres of engine cylinder capacity. For my car, or Euro2 its 6.10€. This is multiplicated to the engines full capacity - SR20DET is 1998cc - so its 6.10€ mulitplicated by twenty - so its 122€ in the end you have to pay.

The S13 is a little bit over 1800cc so these bastards mulitplicate with 19. Its only Euro1 - 10.8€ per 0.1cc - hence the 205 bucks.

Very new cars (Euro4) are pretty cheap, plus they get a bonus of several tax-free years! My missus new Pug as an example which she got this month is tax-free until 2006  Frim 01.01.2006 on its 135€ a year then.

What weve learned from this: BIG engines are a bitch to pay for here. Its nicer having a small one witch a turbo on it :D

As far as I know, here it depends on Horsepower. I havent paid road tax here because we Yanks can have 1 car we dont pay on, if we get a second then we pay for that one.

V-power is what I use in my car, dont know the exact price but its around 60euro for a full tank.

They charge you 10% for not paying it all at once. Hence why I allways get 1 year.

Here in Italy we have only the Super 95 and the V-Power (99): same price as you.

For us there are two taxes. A registration tax and an annual tax. Our registration tax is based on the cars power and the annual is based on the engine size.

For the S14

Registration tax is about: €1200
Annual tax is around: €325

For fuel, Shell 98 comes to around €1.07

Are there any official numbers available how many 200SX are driving around in yer country?

I mailed the office for that here in germany last week and just got the answer. On first of July in 2000 there were 2733 S14(a) in germany. Dont know how many were wrecked since then...

Edit:

Just got a newer number: 01.01.2002: 2638

OMG this meaning there were 95 S14 wrecked in only one and a half year. Damn and I am wondering all time why the goddamn insurance is skyrocketing...

Just found out the S14 is more expensive than the S14a, which makes it:

S13: 205€ (~142£)
S14: 205€ (~142£)
S14a: 122€ (~84£)

tax a year

So watched at it from the environment side, the S14as two cats are better compared to the S14s one cat plus egr
