Thought I'd write a little story whilst I sit hoping for Crawley to dominate Man U.
Following on from a thread recently about a captive nut shearing off on my boomerang brackets on the sub frame, I thought today I'd have a shot at getting to said nut from inside the car as per Nick's advice.
Can confirm that it is indeed possible to do - you can see the box section in question when the rear door card is removed, and to get into it, you need to remove the seat belt winder and reach in through that hole.
Damn that's a tight fit! My arm is slightly mangled now.
So anyway, I could reach the bolt, and with my trusty helper I could feel it spinning whilst he had a ratchet on the bolt from underneath. But I could get any feel of any flat sides on the nut, just some very sharp edges that were spinning with it and a whole lot of rust pieces...
Inevitably, when I had a good poke around underneath, it all started crumbling and I managed to just pull out the entire bolt, nut and a good chunk of the box section all still attached to the boomerang. :wack:
So, gonna need a bit of cutting and welding doing - can anyone do it / recommend someone? I'm in Newport.
Also, I presume it'll be ok to drive with just the one bolt in place on the boomerang?
