Gaz, if you wanna see how quick it is you're more than welcome to have a look at mine in action!!
Tiscali are quite good, as are Claranet.
I don't like NTL personally!!
i'm on adsl (512) and it's been top notch on nildram

What he said, except i had mine for 2 years, no probs at all. for the £25 a month for 600 deal, you also get free line rental on a phone line with that too, iirc :)
1 meg would be good if you can afford, i use a 2mb link at work and really notice the diff in speed, even on web pages!
pipex have never let me down and send me a mail if BT schedule maintenance. top stuff. let me recommend you and I get a free month ;p

Telewest Blueyonder. Had it's downtime a few times over the last year and a bit but other than that it's great, always quick.
Had the 512k (£25pm) for the first few months and then switched to 1mb (£35). Won't go back, but won't pay £54pm for the 2mb!
ADSL through Zen (http://www.zenadsl.co.uk/). Not bad. On the 512 k service but will shortly be going back to 1mb as all the prices dropped again recently.
Good service, works fine for games as well as the usual stuff
freedom2surf 512 adsl. I couldn't be happier with the speed, reliability and customer service - top notch all round for £23/month!

Got 1Mb Telewest Blueyonder.... had it for about a year and it only ever went down once (the week i got it). Since then it's been 100% reliable... and bloody quick too. Even their broadband support staff are very helpful and know their stuff. They even helped me out with an install on my LAN running Win2000 Server which they don't actually support...
but the rest of their staff (sales, accounts, etc) are complete muppets.. the only grief i've had has been with getting billing and account stuff sorted.

www.adslguide.org.uk should be able to help you make an informed decision. They have a section where you can select up to 6 ISP's and see how their customers rate them every month for speed, reliability and custoimer service.
Blueyonder 1MB - Bloody quick. Very stable now like posted above about a year ago they had problems but no uglies for a while.
Def recommended
Nick.
I've got NTL 1MB. It's been very reliable. Had problems with NTL's mail, but they seem to have just about sorted that now.
