I was literally ran off the road yesterday.

Was coming off of the A31 onto the A3 into guildford on my way home from work. The left hand lane splits off from teh A31 and I was in the right hand lane. I was indicating for ages to pull into the left, there was a gap but I wanted the van behind me in that lane to drop back a bit since if I pulled in there'd only be inches between us. Anyway I'm doing that and suddenly the RH lane comes to a near standstill, so I go for the tiny gap to avoid hitting the car in front. I can't deny that it was a VERY small gap, but I got in it and I didn't hit anyone.

So then, 100m further on and I'm on a (wide) single-lane slip road. At this point the guy I cut in in front of overtakes me on my nearside. "Errrm, ok dude..." I think to myself. Clearly I've pissed him off so I figure I'll let him get in front of me and that'll be that.

But no. As he's alongside he shouts some abuse at me ("you f*cking twat" or somethign similar). When he's 50% past me he swerves VICIOUSLY across my path. Before he does this he's only got about a foot of space between the sides of our cars, and he's "overlapping" me by half a car length. The result is that I plow into the side of him when he's at an angle across my path. This was *CLEARLY* intentional on his part!!!!!!! My left front wing makes contact with his rear right wheel/arch.

We both spin a bit and come to a stop, then the car behind me shunts into his stopped vehicle too, making this a complicated 3-car claim.

I get out of my car to see if this complete C*CK is ok, when I get to his van he wont talk to me, says he wants to wait for the police to arrive to sort it all out (he's already on the phone to them).

I can't help but think he wanted to call them before I did, and has probably blamed me for the crash ont he phone, trying to make himself look good by being the one who called the police.

I'm fairly sure the other guy saw what happened and knows that this accident was *all* the c*ck's fault. BUT the first thing he says to me is that I'm a loonatic for pulling into this lane in the manner that I had - I mean, WTF, *I* didn't cause a 3 car pile up did I!!!!

So the police come, take statements etc, oh my this is going to be a lot of fun I can tell......

Hmm, that hand't really occured to me, he was a fair bit older than me (I'm 22) and to be honest I was scared that despite what he'd done he was still gonna come over and give me a kicking!

I suppose I was asking for trouble really, I mean if I will insist on driving a convertible on such a gorgeous sunny evening I have to expect to get rammed by some twat in a van

what a tw4t. irrespective of what happened earlier, he's clearly rammed you. i really cant think of anything else to say, it's so clear cut. hopefully he won't be able to afford the insurance premium to be able to drive again and will just stick a knife in his head.

Next time, just kick the living daylights out of him if you see him, i know i would and i don't even know who the hell it is!!

How bad's the damage?

Man, thats unlucky, my friend had an accident in similar "aggro" fashion from the other driver, but luckily there were several witnesses there.

All i can say is that guy will get his punishment in his own time, that twat.

Bastards! its no wonder the roads are jammed full of tossers like that guy.

What a 24 carrot twat

Hate to be pessimistic mate but I would imagine in a situation like this that plod may well attempt to prosecute all involved for something.

Hope I'm wrong though and that it works out OK for you.

There was an independent witness too that I never spoke to. I'm worried that to everyone else though it might look like I purposely shunted him while he was alongside me :S
