well it looks like its goodbye to the sx, some tool hit me side on 35mph, and they are writing it off, no point buyin it back as a class c or d (they aint decided yet) as it wont sell for much and the repairs wont be cheap.... so basically they are gona pay SH*T for it.... even though on autotrader and pistonheads they sell for good still... I mean I expect they will try and pay 1200? Ill refused but Im not going to get 2700 as I wanted if I would have sold... great :(

Try and get it back for stripping, you should be able to recover some of your loss.
Ohh and find out where the twat lives and break all his windows :censored:

Mate that's bad news.

Best thing to do is compile a load of adverts for similar cars to yours and forward this onto the insurance company, this way they will understand that the price you want is justified.

AlexRobinson

Ye I was told that Vidal gona have a look now roughly they go for 2500 at the cheapest from what I can see hopefully that helps. Also Sideways if I strip it I dont know what Im stripping on her, and id have to pay salvage, Which is fair but I have no knowledge on how to strip the engine etc, as i think the engine is intact.

AlexRobinson

I will be stripping for defo now unless someone offers me a decent figure for the car. And if anyone could offer a hand to help me strip it (tell me what the F im doing) I will obviously pay you for the help.
And ye it is a shame :( I was looking forward to selling it but now its gone... I want another one... Cant afford one again for a while tho so I will probably wait a 12 month and consider my options then.

were u to fella . have the insurance said u can keep it yet

AlexRobinson
06-02-2011, 12:09
They said I could keep it straight away even if its written off, Garage it went to said its a write off just waiting for admiral to confirm it (its a defo) but the damage isnt all that bad, if the wheel wasnt bent it would be driveable. Need to have it checked to see if the engines damaged though to be honest. Im in cardiff mate, the car should be with dragons depot which if i remember is in lequith?

- On the phone to them now

Be easier and better to put it back on the road as long as it's cost effective.

The insurance payout offer might not be as bad as you expect mate.

Last year someone drove into my s13 that I'd only owned for 2 weeks.
I paid £1150 for it and after showing them other much more expensive examples for sale on autotrader and pistonheads the insurance company offered me £1750.
I ended up accepting £1600 and keeping the car, i sold the car for £300 and returned the tax disk for nearly another £100.

Good luck getting it sorted mate, insurance companies are real hustlers so hustle back hard

DIBBS on your starter motor!!!

AlexRobinson

Rhys I assume your refering to the nightcrawlers or w/e they are called, jason n mason n that? I may be selling it as a whole now, one or two locals have given me two good offers, but ye I am going to push them for as much as I can (the insurance not the people) because like I said earlier, Pistonheads and Autotraders cheapest example of my car is 3400 and 3800, not going to get nowhere near that as its not worth it but I am aiming for as close to 2700 as possible. This is ofcourse them paying out me getting the car back and then selling it to a breaker. Its got 10 months tax and mot aswell

Edit - Just thought now if it was to break it would fetch a bit (hopefully someone buys it whole)
Apex Exhaust - 3 alloys - 65k engine - 10 months MOT + TAX - all the other bits and bobs, Shells rust free only got done a month ago, damage to wing and a small dent in rear panel now.
Im guessing it would probably all end up bringin 1500? Ive already told the breakers im not going to be greedy, if the insurance pay out 2000 which I doubt they will, I only want 700 to take it to what I need.

You should have loads

Engine
Box + clutch?
Some wheels
Callipers
Lights
Seats
Interior trim
Diff
Turbo
And if modded
IC, pump ect...

All that stripped has got to make a few bob

Didn't think about all that hmm

AlexRobinson
07-02-2011, 16:28
been thinking about this all day, got nothing else to think about heh, this is what I think is a rough estimate, chances are I wont need to break it as like I said two guys want it but just incase I would like to have a fallback plan.
Engine - 500 (65k with service history its a minter)
Box - 250
Clutch - 50
Wheels - 100 for 3
callipers - 30 for the lot or is this too much or too cheap? (dont know the condition of back but new are new)
Lights - 35 for both?
Seats - 50 for front and back
Interior - 100 for the lot?
Diff - 100 (if I have one, not sure as im a douche)
Turbo - 50? its 65,000 so its old? never given me problems though
apex exhaust - 150

havnt got a clue with any of the body work?

Please dont message me saying I want that part for that price as I am just asking for some advice on pricing if its too high just tell me or too low please just tell me? I am weighin in the options incase I do decide to break it to make up the amount.

Anyway, feel free to PM me or anything, again thanks for all the advice guys not broken or thought about buyin the car back and selling it on before, definitely a good idea though.

Clutch - 50
Wheels - 100 for 3
callipers - 30 for the lot or is this too much or too cheap? (dont know the condition of back but new are new) £80?
Lights - 35 for both? each
Seats - 50 for front and back £90-100
Interior - 100 for the lot?
Diff - 100 (if I have one, not sure as im a douche)
Turbo - 50? its 65,000 so its old? never given me problems though £170
apex exhaust - 150

.

Few changes i'd make :D Maybe £650-£700 for the engine as its a low milager!

Thanks guys... rather put lower than higher dont want to be greedy lol. my t28 is good but 65,000 is a lot of miles for the turbo isnt it? dont they usually get changed at this point? it was an automatic for 50k of that though

No its just the turbo gaskets that go around this time! and shortly after the metal oil feeds if not replaced when disturbed doing the gaskets!
Turbo's can last the lifetime of the car if warmed and cooled gradually and good oil is used etc!

Nightcrawlers lol, walkers boy!!! :p but yea listen to these guys and put your prices up a bit more...you seen the state of my S13..even once the engine blew I still managed to make enough through breaking it to have a nice chunk of money towards another car..and now I'm rocking a 14.

I had a look over your car at JapWales...it was very clean so I'm sure you won't have much trouble getting rid of the parts, and what I found was even things like the headlight mechanisms etc sold...don't think the normal stuff think everything...and if you do, shit...I'll even have the rear quarter panel lol...proof again that there is lots on a car people need, and will pay for.

AlexRobinson
08-02-2011, 19:06
lol woops Nightwalkers, got mixed up with xmen isit? hah anyway ye problem is with breaking it (which im happy to do) is A) paying someone to break it which wont be cheap, and B) picking it up and C) the most worrying one, where to store it :/ thats my worry.
Been offered a few offers now, highest so far being 900 no salvage, holding out for someone to preferably give me 1000 if possible and the salvage, however I have said to the possible buyers, if salvage is high I will help pay towards it.
Last time I bought it back for 180.

I've re-amended your amended prices ;)

Engine - (65k with service history its a minter) £800 maybe £100 less if you have to haggle but you should get £800 with full service history and anchillaries minus the turbo

Box - £150 i usually pay but it can fetch upto 250 for a low mileage mint box

Clutch - 50 (clutch and flywheel) £70

Wheels - 100 for 3 (sorry you won't get this for them, you would struggle to get £100 for all 4 stock wheels try around £50 and you'll still be hard pressed to get rid of them)

callipers - 30 for the lot or is this too much or too cheap? (dont know the condition of back but new are new) i would sell the calipers and the hubs and disks all together, ideal upgrade for s13 users (£200)

Lights - 35 for both? (if these are s14a lights, are you mad selling these for that cheap?? £175 at least)

Seats - 50 for front and back £90-100 (thats about right)

Interior - 100 for the lot? (centre console, stereo surround, heater surround and other bits and bobs, £100 is doable)

Diff - 100 (if I have one, not sure as im a douche) (diff and casing around £60 - £100)

Turbo - its 65,000 so its old? never given me problems though £150 - £180

apex exhaust - 150
