I was wondering if a high pressure oil pump would help the big end situation on the CA18DET lump, I thought maybe the extra pressure would supply enough oil to the bearings to prevent the dreaded big end knock.
Any thoughts people?

How much would one be & where from?
I'm damn close to finishing my engine & perhaps now is the time to put one in.
Do you not have a risk of blowning turbo oil seals?
Jezz.

You can blueprint/'port & flow' an oil pump to improve its efficiency apparently. I know a amateur (by choice 'cos he has a very good reputation, and long waiting list) that has done quite a few. Does this mainly for K-series and pinto/cossies though.
Would have thought it means it flows more oil, rather than increasing the pressure by much?
Perhaps an alternative to finding a high pressure pump.
Cheers, Phil

No I didn't, but all sharp edges and rough bits were taken off to give a bit more pressure.....but not much.

Aaahh, so I had remembered correctly.
Did you have a measureable pressure increase Paul? Assuming you have a gauge - how much increase in pressure?
Cheers, Phil

I had borrowed an snap-on oil pressure gauge and found that I had a few more psi, but nothing to shout about.
