View Full Version : Are there any regulations...........
Covering working hours that workmen can do in a built up residential area?
Just i had the Electricity board outside my house lastnight cutting and digging up the pavement till after midnight lastnight. I know some people had no power (fortunenatly i did).
But are they really alowed to make that much noise that late at night??
Sorry if i sound a bit grumpy, lol. Just tired :wack:

There are unsociable hours yes.
When I was a meter reader I couldnt call on people after 8pm as it was illegal to isturb after that point.
However, Im no copper so check with your local bobby...
they wouldnt have done it if they couldnt.
there'll be some laws with regards noise pollution, but if it's classed as emergency work then they'll get away with it on that count.
just offer them some nice cups of tea/coffee and chocolate digestives, when they all accept put some sleeping tablets in the coffee, then they all fall asleep and hey presto - no more noise!!!!
god i'm good!!!!
LOL i would have done if i knew they were gonna get the digger out at 10:20pm after being there from about 4:30 in the afternoon
Normal working hours when you can make a noise are something like 0700 to 1800 and until 1300 on a Saturday IIRC, but restoring elecricity supply would probably be counted as a special case.
You wouldn't be complaining if it was your supply they were restoring ;)

I really wouldnt mind that much, Who needs electic at that time of night?? Most people are asleep. I know the fridge and freezer need it but that i could have coped with.
It was just the diamond tip cutter that really pi$$ed me off as it was so loud. Actually nearly as loud as the earthquake last year, lol

had a similar problem last year... I have a first floor flat, with a large sunterrace :)... had a nice eveing with the gf... ;) and so haddnt had time to close the curtains... was woken at 7am by a bunch of noisy workmen types with a petrol disk cutter removing the metal fence that seperates my balcony from next doors..!!! scared the hell out of me!!!
complaining had no effect... :(
