View Full Version : adj. fuel pressure regulators
anyone use one to good effect? i would imagine a quick tweek and you could overfuell nicely and light up the skies from the exhaust.
a) what type do i need
b) are they expensive
dont know the first thing about em, i just wnat one coz i gots no dough to fit a 5th injector.
Yeah , I needed one to get more fuel in past 185bhp at the wheels.
They are a nightmare to fit with the engine in (but you may be alright with yours on the floor http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif ), as you need to remove the old one that is held by two philips screws right at the back of the engine bay (no room to move).
In the end I hacksawed mine off http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/smile.gif so that I could get mole grips in to turn the screws. After that the fitting wasn't too bad.
The unit was a fse boost valve, and I think it was a subaru imprezza one that I fitted, which has the right adapter, and just needs different bolts to go in where the screws are.
How does a 5th injector work?
stu has got one.
I think his is on a pressure switch so it kicks in and fuels up after 3500rpm or something. needs a 200 quid piece of kit to run it though. Injector itself is 2 quid.
Ribo - did it give you a nice overfuel on the overrun? i want flamesssssss

I've got the ND adjustable regulator, I originally got it to sort an underfuelling problem, this turned out to be a crude way of sorting the problem, I had to have the fuel pressure so high that the car idled at 5%CO, thats MOT failure levels.
I brought a Escort cossie fuel pump and turned the fuel pressure down to just above standard and now the car fuels perfectly, it idles at .8%CO and fuels at 7% at full load.
And the engine spits dirty great flames out the 'zorst http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/biggrin.gif

Chimp, no overfuelling as it was set up on a rolling road, but I'm sure you could get it to if you wanted http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif
groovy, how much are these little thingys?

If your looking into these then u may want to consider a rising rate fuel pressure regulator (due to the economy of the fixed pressure ones)
However, Pauls one obvioulsy seems to work ok, plus it spat nice flames at me whilst crusing down the M25 one day back from North Wield. A great receipe for Pops and Bangs with added flames. Especially when we had booted it through a tunnel stretch on the M25 (j25) going t'wards M1.
Anyone round the Enfield area knows this tunnel, big zorsts and dump valves sound nice when tanking it through here.

Ive got a universal fuel regulator from Tweeks. Cost about £40 I think, Ill have to dig their part number out though cos I dont think its shown in the catalogues, the only ones they show are like £90 for cossies and stuff.
Ill have a look for the number tonight.
