View Full Version : Any one up for a meet on the 12th february
Have cleared this with paul, and was wondering if anyone was interested ina non official meet at LLandow circuit.
I will be down there on the day as a few of supra guys are on track and Craig who I do work with will be holding a shake down of his supra for the TSS (Toyota Sprint Series), So we will be testing out his geometry.
This would be a great venue for a get together, there is a cafe for food and drink and also a track full of cars. What could be better. A great atmosphere for a meet imho.
So if anyone is interested just make yourself Known in here.
Thanks Gareth

Yea it's under new management?aparently.
Will give them a ring in the morning and find out the score
Just found out what is going on with llandow. Sharon, who is Hillary's daughter is now running the setup, Sharon has confirmed that the price for a track day is at the same price as we always pay. So fear not there are no new owners.

might chuck my old wheels on and have a quick rip around track if theres and spaces, ill be there though at 10 either way
Make it inter club ;) member discount for the win then
Good idea but you already have the discount, the way it is worked is the cheapest price possible over the optional amount of cars. This has always worked out the best, as you saw last year you get a lot of track time for the £.

What he means is if it is classed as an sxoc official event! the club subsidize members £5
Now I get you lol, still not woken up yet.

Enjoyed today! thanks for the heads up on this nevins,oh and if the guy with the Accord type r is on the supra forum, thank him for the passenger ride,i didn't get a chance to catch him before leaving!
Nice mix of cars today, wouldn't have gone on myself tough if you paid me,the 2 guys in the scrap rovers were just taking the piss

Ohh forgot about this thread :wack:
Yeah the Brekie was nice lol
Plenty of moments were had by those on track and it was a bit of a free for all as far as i could see!
Fair play to the Rover guys though as they were kicking the crap out of the poor cars, particularly liked the WRC throttle control from the white one lol
The two lads in the Blue BMW's looked like they were both having a ball though and if they didn't know each other very well before then they do now lol
Oh and that Mini was rude
No probs paul, It was Jon's brother and will let him know you said thanks.
You missed a classic moment towards the end. The jap boys that were there made our day. After endless spin offs in the mx5, Tom cruise came into the pits popped the bonnet and took the rad cap off straight away, this resulted in a red hot fountain lots of very excited Japs screaming in Jap, and then 40 mins of searching for the rad cap.
Nick, the 2 m3's really had an invisible tow rope linking them and were checking if the valves were closing fully in the engine via the exhaust lol.
Was great to see you guys again.

Now that i can believe :)
Gutted i missed the Kamikaze Jap man lol
Missed he spun out probably 6/10 laps each session!
I blame his dress combo, 3/4's leather jacket, open face helmet and mirrored rayban glasses. He looked like tom cruise in top gun going round that track lol

Gay. Instead of coming to this I snapped a captive nut off my subframe so am now car-less as a result and figuring out how to get out of this situation! :annoyed:
Any pics? Would be interested to see who the rover drivers were seeing as they were my previous rides for nearly 5 years!
They were are holes, driving like fools, almost caused a 4 car pile up with around a guestimate of 40k plus worth of cars. Also on the nut part you could cut out the old one and reweld a new one in.

Jamesy is it one of the ones that holds the boomerang looking part in place at the front of the sub frame ?

Oh and Nick the Rovers got worse after lunch  i'll try and put some footage up tomorrow night!

Red one was black flagged 5 times before leaving the track via the entrance to the track.
Red one was black flagged 5 times before leaving the track via the entrance to the track.
How they put up with those 2 i'll never know, trouble is they give the track a bad name then and no-one wioll want to do a trackday! the white one was spinning out of the corners flat out 3' off the back of some expensive cars!
VIDAL BABBOON
12-02-2011, 22:44
Bloody hell i would have been having words with the marshals
We did think the driver of the red car was removed from the grounds as no one saw him till they were loading the cars up and leaving. Craig was getting ready to drag the driver of the white one out of the rover through his closed window by his throat.

12-02-2011, 22:59
This is why i don't like random track days with others i don't know on track, it's all to easy for it to end up very expensive!
Like the maxi mini with road rash on each side and back and front, he liked to pass as tight as he could, but shit he could drive that thing
VIDAL BABBOON
12-02-2011, 23:08
Yeah you quickly get a feel for others on track with you and can judge if you know you can trust them.
I would rather them let me completely get out of their way though as if they are that much faster than me then they are quite welcome to the whole track.
What i don't like though are the people that bait you and the people that have no idea of what is going on around them, these are the most dangerous on a track.
Agree with you there mate. There were a few on there that never noticed what was going on around them as if they were on their alone. Also the jap boy in the mx5 (tom cruise) had no idea what he was doing.

Jamesy is it one of the ones that holds the boomerang looking part in place at the front of the sub frame ?
Yep that's right nick. I've got a post up in the tech section asking what the best way is to tackle it and then was gonna stick one up here as I guess it's gonna need some form of welding.
It's not something I can do, but no idea if anyone in my area can / knows someone who can.

If you remove the rear card, you can get your hand in the sill and can get to the nut
I just used a serrated washer and new nut to repair mine, then recently had a nut welded into it while swapping my subframe over.

Hmm... I tried getting my hand in their but seemed to just come up against solid metal each time. Will try again though. Through the seat belt winder hole or the big one behind the card?
How did you set about getting to it when you finally got it welded up?
VIDAL BABBOON
13-02-2011, 19:49
I cant remember how i got to it but i definitely got to it one way and had a spanner on it (11mm) to get it undone.
When it came to the repair, we used a flanged nut and sent it into the hole so the flange was underneath, then tacked it in place ground it down and recessed it with a hammer.
It's not load bearing or under any significant stress  it's simply a brace mounting point.
