There is a service bulletin out on this from Nissan.
Noisey hydraulic valve lifters, exhaust side only, on high mileage vehicles.
Possible cause/cure.
The cause could be due to lack of oil to the Exhaust Hydraulic valve lifters.
Before removing the cylinder head, remove cylinder head bolts 4&5 (page EM27 in the manual) This will reveal the oilway that feeds the lifters and can be recognised as a raised portion in the casing.
Lack of servicing can cause this oil way to become blocked. Using a welding rod or similar the passage can be cleaned by clearing the inlet to the exhaust side. Once cleared clean and retorque bolts and renew oil and filter.
Hope this helps

Yep got that but will just removing the 2 bolts warp the head? Does the cam have to come out? sorry for all the questions but I just rebuilt the bottom end as i was told it was big ends (by nd, they were well worn but when i took the crank for a regrind at a specialist(?) they said it was ok and just gave it a polish) I'm well p***** off and the missus is livid. Her face was thunder when i started it up for the first time and the noise was still there!!
