Hey guys, I just had a little search through my filing and found my crude costing from last year.

We had more drink than we could drink, and more food than we could eat, so this year I guess we will spend a little less, but the likely price of fuel by the time we go will probably cancel out any savings.

Eurotunnel fares … £97
Fuel in the uk 480 miles @ 28mpg* (£1.25p/l) … £98
Fuel in france 550 miles @ 25mpg* (£1.25p/l) … £125
Camping and tickets … £233
Alcohol and food … £180
Insurance and breakdown cover (upgrade AA) … £53
Van of doom hire … £30
Hotel night before … £58
Jamie on insurance … £27

TOTAL £900

Each = £450

*The Mazda ended up doing quite a bit better on fuel, but those MPG's are what I predicted.

Obviously this is only a guide and the miles you need to do in the UK to get to the port could have a huge impact on the total cost, but its definitely a good start and prompts you to think about things you might otherwise forget (such as breakdown cover)

Hope this is of help to a few of you.:thumbs:

How much for camping:eek:

 The majority of that figure is the tickets.

£100 for 4 nights camping for 2, right next to a world renowned track is cheap by anyone’s standards ;)

Would be a bit of a trek from Richie's to the track everyday wouldn't it? :wack:

£53 for breakdown cover... I wish. I wasn't getting quotes from the major people for anything less than £150 over the interwebs :wack:

I get cover through my bank account and that's hat it cost to upgrade it to European with all the bells and whistles. May be worth you looking into doing it that way.

Madda, what bank are you with?

I'm with HSBC Plus and get breakdown cover with them, no idea about european cover though.

LBG on a platinum account. I needed to upgrade it as I said, but I thought £53 was very reasonable.
