View Full Version : Campsite reccomendations
So im in the process of booking LeMans for me and my mates. Ive stayed at beausejour before but it was a bit of a massive trek to get to the main entrance. So i want something a little closer.
Theres 2 main options ive seen and they are Bleu Nord and Houx.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience of either of these or could recommend any other decent ones that dont cost a fortune to stay at.
Also, we will be dover-dunkerqueing out on the wednesday and return on the monday. anyone got any ferrys on those days to join our convoy?
Nobody has been to any of these sites then?
I've only ever stayed in Houx annexe & Karting Nord, both are pretty good for track access & amenities,Houx annexe was a free for all as far as pitches go,1st in get the best spots whereas Karting Nord is sold as plots so if you book early enough you can usually pick a decent pitch.
Houx is better than Blue Nord IMO, we are all on Karting Nord which is closer to Blue though I think.
I wouldnt look any further than Houx, Houx Annexe or KN myself though

Hi,
Houx annex is now numbered plots as most other campsites are now.
Generally good, fairly close to the track at the esses and tetre rouge, maybe 10 min walk. Near to Carrefour and tram to town.
Can be noisy and very much in the open to the weather
(one year almost next door to us played ABBA and other party favourites at full volume until the early hours, this despite various threats from surrounding campers)
Houx. Probably the best on-track campsite. next to Houx annex but fenced in all around and fairly secure. Has power hook ups and lots of water connections but get there early (mon or tue) to be sure of getting one. Again allocated pitches. Close to Carrefour, tram, Tetre Rouge and Esses 10-15 min to startline. You can get non-numbered pitches at reduced cost, however some of these have trees in the middle of the pitch. Part of the site is pine tree covered the rest is open. Very popular with the TVR boys.
Cannot comment on the other sites. However both Club-Arnarge and Beer-Mountain have full campsite reviews.

Hi again.
We are also out on Wed and back Mon.
Take a look at LD lines from Newhaven-Dieppe-Newhaven.
Newhaven is a simple trip off the M23/M25 not far from Brighton. Ferry takes 4 hours.
We are in Houx non numbered this year

Bleu is pretty basic, used to stay there a lot but wouldn't bother now.
sounds like Houx is the way to go then.
Just looking at ferries, and the price is going up. Unfortunately the cost of newhaven dieppe is to expensive in comparison to dover-dunkerque and then petrol. Also the timings are properly poo arent they, leaving england at 9am and returning at 10pm. not good when we're coming down from suffolk. Its also £160 compared to £60 for the dover dunkerque. And it wont be saving us £100 of fuel thats for sure.
Hmmmmmm Houx is 100 for the campsite, pretty good site though so prob worth the extra money. not sure the chances of getting 2-3-4-5 pitches together though if turning up on a wednesday.

Hi.
Good chance of pitches together. Just let the agent know that there is a party of 5 and they should be able to allocate them together. If getting the non numbered again should be OK if you all arrive together. you may get one or two pitches seperate but they could be used for the cars.
cheers for the review cayman. decided that 15 each was worth it for the location of Houx, so ringing around and probably gonna get booked up on monday. Non allocated as its much cheaper, but we will all convoy down together so it should be fine.
Do you reckon we'd be ok arriving on the wednesday to get spots together?
and cayman, are you in 200s and stuff? ill say hi when we get there!

Hi,
Just 3 of us this year and will be in a Green 200sx.
Make sure you all arrive together and they should get you pitches close together. Failing that make sure you tell the guys on the entrance that you need 5 pitches.
We will be on our way on Wednesday, should get to Le Mans around 1800. If you need directions or anything let me know. Maybe meet up en-route.

well i was thinking we'd be there around 6-7ish hopefully.
