Right oh,

How do you lift the engine preferably attached to the transmission out of the car.

The manual is bloody hopeless, say list engine in safe manner, that's it.

So does anyone know the procedure?

It's a race against time, I need to get my engine rebuilt and back in the car by Monday next week at the latest so I'm forward planning for the weekend where I hope to do the swap.

Thanks.

I had to have the hoist positioned at the wing, to lift the engine upwards, then manouvre it to the front of the car to pull it all out. (it was either that or take the bumper off). There was a few bolts holding the gearbox up and 4 on the back of the little prop shaft. All were fairly easy to undo. One thing thats a must though is to take the gear selector off, it catches on fecking everything as its sliding out.

There was 2 of us and it took about 1 hour to have it ready to be swung out. Deffo a 2 man job though, lots of fiddling to stop the obscenely large gearbox from swinging around and making your car a cabriolet.

Make sure the engine crane has a long enough boom to clear the bumper, sling it on the eye near the cam cover(ex side at front)and through the black support that goes from the bottom of the block up to the inlet manifold, hey presto.

I haven't got any lifting eyes, was gonna just sling it under the engine.

Is that a problem? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/frown.gif
