what is your New Years resolution this year?

My plan is to sort my eating out - I need to start eating healthy, permanently cos I eat far too much rubbish!

Also I want to get the 200 on the road, finished this year.

What about you guys??

BLAAAAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH oh you are silly :D

World domination aside....

1) Put my 200 back together as a super dooper ninja warrior super fast brum brum thing.
2) Try not to have any more kids.
3) Smoke less... Alot less
4) Work less for more money.
5) Eat less crap and excercise more.

I work in a Nickel refinery. There have been loads of sickness and staff shortages last year! company thought it would be ok to go from 5 men to 4,and now they are struggling to keep the jobs covered! If we go to 3 men through sickness we have to shut a side down, which equates to a half million quid loss in 12 hours
Good company Tesco too,i hear they pay quite well!

its ironic... after talking about that last night, i went in this morning, and i was put in a meeting straight away. been cut from my standard 3 days a week, 10 hours a day, down to 1 day a week.
and as im not the only one they are doing it to, theres little chance of overtime!
but they cant cover the shifts as it stands. so with me out of it on monday and wednesday, theyre going to need a driver for my van, so they are booking me in for the overtime for those days :wack: but its not guaranteed!

pay is good yeah, worth waking up for. lol
seems a bit random tbh, and rather a kick in the teeth how rough the recession is :annoyed:

doubtfull of getting the 200 on the road again now...... :furious:
all i need is 4 tires, tax and mot

so they cut 5 to 4 staff, but the 4 staff have to do the same amount of work as the 5?
its funny how far companies push their staff to breaking point to make cut backs!! but the only cutting back they are making, is the losses when theres not enough staff!

:( Gutting, but surely if your only working a 1 day week, and they still need you for the other 2 on overtime, won't you earn more? :)

Cant see that lasing long with them

If anything it's guaranteeing you a regular 2+ days a week of overtime

Unless they have been informed of reduced workload ?

well, theres 7 vans, and its 2 drivers per van, 1 for the day run, and one for the night run. making a required 14 drivers.
theres 16 drivers in total inc me :S
theyve taken me off the day on monday and wed, so common sense, they have to find someone to do those runs now.... either that, or tesco take the van off the road. which isnt going to happen.....
those 7 vans are out every day, all day. so technically, they are going to need me!
the full timers, are at their hours limit, thus why they took me on.
the part timers are getting cut back, to lower hours than were on. so somethings got to give.

na, tesco dont pay extra for overtime. its just standard rate :(

with the meeting, they explained that its due to the economic downturn (FULL OF CRAP) and the recession. (people still need to eat) theyre either filling me full of it, or theyre just trying to make themselves look good for the financial year, by cutting back massivly for april.

so what i see theyre trying to do, is make the base hours (contracted hours) look good at an all time low, but the overtime, will now spike big time. then they'll get a bolloxing for that, and they'll up the contracted hours again.

im just waiting to see if its only me this has happened to.
the problem with this system, is, that if others get knocked down in hours as well, were all going to be scrambling for hours, and trying to fight each other for the hours....

any more new years resolutions? or failures yet?

Nah sorry, our companies like a lottery to get into now! The last half dozen have got in through working with an industrial cleaning firm! and if they do well they sometimes get a job. but its hard graft for a few years before you may or may not get in! :(
