Hi Jez.

Thanks again for the mapping session and also the speed you turned around the base map installation the week before.

The RR day was cancelled, so I can't send you a graph. But the car feels good and pulls hard, although there's not much opportunity to lay the power down at the moment, as you can imagine.

There does seem to be a slight misfire creeping in around the 5k mark. Nothing serious, but it just misses slightly on wide open throttle (most noticeable in 3rd). I was hoping to pick it up on the RR. I'm assuming this is likely to be a plug gap or coil pack thing. Any thoughts?

Cheers,

Chris

Most likely a plug issue - what have you got in there at the moment? I'd recommend the NGK 7 plugs at their standard gap and replace them every 10-15k miles.

Yep - I've got the BKR7EIX plugs in there at the moment. They've only been in there for 2,000 miles or so. I didn't check the plug gap when I got them - I just threw them in. They were working fine on the Stage 1a setup, so wondered if the issue is linked to the higher boost pressure.

I do have a new set of grade 8 plugs - but you think they will be too cold?

The plugs you have should be fine - 8s are a bit cold. Standard gaps are usually fine too.

I think I've got a spare set of grade 7's kicking around - I'll try them out. Failing that, I guess coil packs are the next suspects.

Ok. Well I didn't get as far as trying out any plug changes. A coil pack properly went down at the weekend, to the point that the car wouldn't rev beyond about 3k.

I've swapped the duff coil pack out and it feels a whole lot better now.
