We were having a debate at the weekend (Vodka-induced I may add) essentially based around is there more streetlights than people in the UK? What do you think?

We discussed it at length between 4-5am Saturday morning ( :D ) and we came to the conclusion that there were more people.

streetlights are about 30feet apart (or is that yards, I dunno).
people are about 1 foot apart by average... or summat like that anyway.

There's never 60 million streetlights in the UK!

Anyway, to settle it I did a quick search of the ever-usefull net, and found that Devon County Council (not my local, but none of my local councils seem to post this incredibly handy info on the net) has 68,500 streetlights, and a population of 706,000. Well if that's anywhere near the average it works out to 5,821,530 streetlights in the UK, about 1 for every 10 people.

Sad I know, but I just couldn't let it lie... :wack: !
