Just wondering, will the 2.0 S14 engine fit in the S13?? http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/confused.gif

If it does, it could be a great mod, especially with the engines being a little newer it will be easier to find a lower milage one.

Should also improve the low down "grunt".

I've wondered this. Is the S14 a SR20DET? If so, I think this engine was fitted as std. in Japan in the S13...

The SR20DET was fitted as standard in later model S13's in Japan. There are 2 flavours of SR20DET, red top and black top. The red top is the one that was fitted in the S13 (same as the GTiR motor) and the black top is a more modern version of the same engine with variable valve timing (as fitted to the S14 in both UK and Japan). Either SR will fit in an S13 as long as you use the SR gearbox. This is a pretty straight forward job (I've heard!) as all the mounts match up.

If you are really keen on an engine swap why not go for a VG30DETT (300zx) or an RB25DET (skyline GTS). Both will fit without too much work.

Then again, there's always the VQ series engine (ally block, based on the VG), a modified version of which is used in the Nissan Le Mans car...

(its just a thought http://300zx.co.uk/200sx/ubb/wink.gif )

Chimp,

SR swaps are big news in the States as the S13 over there comes with a 2.4L 4cyl truck motor (KA24). Basically there are 2 schools of modifying over there, 1 involves fitting the SR the other involves turbo charging the KA. I've heard about some sh*t hot KA turbos putting out 350+ rwbhp.

A place in Japan has also fitted without too much hassle an RB26DETT from the skyline, I think if you ship them your car they will complete it for you in two weeks and charge the sum of £2500 including motor, worth a go I reckon !

It might make more sense to bring the engine over here!! I've heard its reasonably easy (as far as engine conversions go). You need a gearbox from a 2wd Skyline like the GTS-T 2.5 to go with it.
