Further from the previous thread gaining interest for a ladies only drift day...

http://www.driftworks.com/forum/other-news-events/122312-attention-ladies.html

I am pleased to announce this event will now be taking place! Please see the details below.

Date: Sunday 14th November

Where: Santa Pod Raceway, Northamptonshire.

Full Address:
Santa Pod Raceway
Airfield Road
Podington
Wellingborough
Northants
NN29 7XA

Cost: £60 per driver - paid in advance
£10 for spectators - paid on the gate

Tutoring: There will be a number of female tutors available on the day, however as im sure you can understand there are only a handful of women available to teach drifting in this country therefore we will also have male tutors available.
If you want only female tuition please message once you have booked your place.
Boyfriends/Husbands are welcome of course to teach their other half but i would advise against this, there will be plenty of help available on the day so domestics are avoided

Exact track layout is to be confirmed however there is likely to be:
2-3 play pens for donuts and figure of 8's
1 Kidney track
The Large track usually laid out for DWYB

The gates will be open from 8.30am to 5pm, drifting will be from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

MINT tyres will be on site to provide tyre changing.
Prices are £5 per rim + £2 disposal if needed

How to reserve your place?
Send £60 via paypal to laura_ty80@hotmail.com (please ensure any charges are paid)
Please include in the comments your name, contact telephone number, e-mail address and SXOC/Driftworks Username (if you have one)
Payments are non refundable

Obviously i am hoping for a large turn out however, if i do not have enough people book up in advance this day will be cancelled and all monies returned  but hopefully it will be a big success and we'll all have an awesome time :D

The aim of the day is obviously to get you comfortable with the basics of drifting or develop your skills further but mostly to have fun!! So don't worry about anything, if you have any questions about preperation for the day or about the day itself feel free to give me a shout either via PM or e-mail ( laura_ty80@hotmail.com )

Lastly, i'd like to say a massive thank you to Bob at Mallory Park for his help organising this day, without him it would not be happening

I think the general idea was to have a safe haven away from blokes for the girls to learn without the pressures of people onlooking and possibly passing comment should she make a mistake. So if you are allowed to watch , please be repesctful.

Well said Bolf :) thats exactly the idea.

I'll give it a miss then
doubt i'd be giving any "possibly passing comment" as I'm guessing everyone there can drift better than me

I don't like the idea of restricting a day purely on gender. On novice ability etc yes.

If someone had posted up a blokes only day I'm sure there would be cries of discrimination.

How is this any different

How is this any different

I can't imagine that a bunch of female nerdy internet geeks would turn up to perv over blokes drifting, whereas the reverse of this situation is a very real possibility :wack:

really ???..... I love to imagine that on a daily basis ... they are mostly wearing tight jumpers and glasses (the women)

edit: see I am the exact reason why there has to be ladies only events  :annoyed: bloody pervs like me ruin it for everyone else

^^^^ well yea lol

ive had all the sexist blah blah talk... to be honest, being a woman and having been in the drift community for 4-5 years ive had a lot of women say to me 'Ohhh i'd like a go at that but i dont want all the men staring at me'

When i got into drifting i was one of very few women who showed any interest and the only reason i kept going was because i could take the flack given to me by all the fellas, some women arent as thick skinned and i dont want them to be put off :)

the irony is women judge women more than men do.
i dont like her shoes etc...,

i though you stayed in the drifting game because you love all the attention steve-o gives you.

hahaha yes, purely for him! x

and yeh women do judge a lot, it's not that men are going to look on and judge the driving, it's just the general attention when youre trying to do something out of your comfort zone

purely for him! x

this cracked me up, good job i have my own office!!.

im used to being stared at  usually followed by snide remarks about being thin.

hopefully more female attention will bring more male attention to drifting.or at least attention from people who arent chav idiots.

lozza
08-11-2010, 15:30
lol!

we dont need anymore chav idiots, we have enough filling up DW lol
