View Full Version : Anybody got a press to get bushes out?
I need to get all the bushes out of my suspension arms and probably the bearings out of the hubs. Does any one have a hydraulic (spl?) press/access to one that I might be able to borrow in exchange for some beer tokens :D
cheers :sxoc:

most of the suspension arm bushes can be either burned out or you can get them out with a hammer lol
Or maybe try using a vice and a large socket to make your own kinda press?

Use a large G clamp. :D
thought the bushes were quite hard in so I'll get some elbow grease out and give it a go then ;)
Will need the bearings doing though so I'll give you a shout Ian, I'll sort some new ones first though so you can put them in while you're at it :D

if its anything like my s13s front bottom arm bushes, the arm started bending before the bushes began to budge

Fook knows how some of you lot get those bushes out with strange contraptions built with G-Clamps or vices, i used a 50 ton press and at one point i had iirc just under 9 tons pressure on a stupid bush to get it out... Mine were in there alright...
... In other words i would have been just about maxing out a decent garage press (10ton) and wayyy past a crappy garage press (5ton).
well I gave it a quick go at pressing them out myself but that didn't work. My dad's got a press so I'll give that a go when I go back oop north next week.
The plans for the car have changed though, might be going ahead with the RB conversion so might just end up getting some rose jointed ones anyway :D

Is that the Rb from your skyline then?Would love the manual conversion dude!!!:D
you might aswell go with rose jointed or something like Apex adjustable arms with stiffened bushes...
The amount the poly bushes cost plus the hours spent removing the old ones isnt worth it
talk to MrParr about bushes he spent hours with a long threaded bar couple of nuts and some sockets and now ideally needs more adjustment with his new wheels lol

yeah some adjustment would be nice and even the cheap sets of bushes of ebay  aren't exactly cheap.
first thing first though, sort out the rust :smash:
