No interest in this then guys? Thought people would of been up for this:confused:
Looking at the way they are organising it it'll be a case of buying your tickets through their web site and meeting up somewhere before the event :)

Just got confirmation that me and a mate are running the drift track, we decided to miss out on seat time to help a local venue :)
I'll be going in the s14, not sure if I'll be drifting much or at all yet need to speak to the organisers if they mind me having a blast. I can leave it on the stand whilst I'm marshalling etc (Someone give Tegatron a chamoi with some wax and wait for the ocd to kick in yo ;) :wack:)
My mates got a nice battle ship grey s13 but it'll be at the drift track all day, have a look it is mint rust free and ca powered :wack:
Come on people a sxoc meet with hard parking and a chance to burn up the drag strip (all day long if you want) for £25 - Bargain! The website says it's a 1/4 mile unless it is wet.

Not sure how many events are planned yet, as soon as I know more I will keep everyone informed
Hope so as we need something like this down this way. Once my car is on the road i WILL be looking for a couple of practice days for learning to slide the thing around. Just wish they were closer

05-11-2010, 21:34
I'm surprised, there has been a big call for something like this down here and now theres no interest . Me and my bro will be ordering our tickets within the next few days, hope to meet a few more new faces :sxoc:.
its the wrong time of year for it...
Chriscooke
06-11-2010, 01:14
Clive it's the ass end of the year but still should be more popular than this

I'm just checking if I can make it, really want to. Will there be a convoy of any sort arranged?
Chriscooke
15-11-2010, 18:33
There wasn't enough interest for this one so we're not going as a club this time :( Hopefully they have another nearer the summer with some better weather:nod:
Monkey Magic
15-11-2010, 21:32
Hopefully there will be events in the summer and there should be loads of interest then :)
I haven't really heard that much myself yet apart from a few details for marshalling etc, can't really say what the track is going to be like until we set it up on Friday. Can't find a bloody tyre van that wants to go up and the organiser hasn't posted much about one, looks like it could be wet though.
Monkey Magic
16-11-2010, 17:44
We now have a tyre van coming, it'll be a set charge of £10 for as many tyres changed as you need
The DWYB has sold out already but RWYB is available on the day. We will be having a drivers briefing at 9.30am, gates open to competitors at 9.00am.
Chriscooke
16-11-2010, 17:59
So you can turn up on the day and take your car up the strip? Is it timed or just a bit of a shoot out?
Monkey Magic
16-11-2010, 18:23
It's the whole shebang I think. Staging lights (I think that's what they are called), your runs are timed and they set 2 off at a time so you can race other people.
You can turn up and pay on the day, your car will need to be checked by the scrutineers and they need both parts of your driving licence for signing on.
Chriscooke
16-11-2010, 18:26
Sounds good to me. Even I can go fast in a straight line :D Will see how it all works out, i'm technically off sick from work still, with my dodgy hand :wack:
A bit of an update about the Smeatharpe drift and drag day:
Just an update on the event planned at Smeaharpe on Saturday November 20h. We have today met with the local Safety Advisory Group and Police and they have told us we need to make some alterations to the event.
As a comittee we are not particuarly in agreement with the changes but the alternative was not to get a license from the local council and having to cancel the event.
The following changes will be put in place.
1. A strict enforcement by Safety Camera Partnership of speed into and out of the event - SPEED CAMERAS
2. a STRICT ADHERENCE TO NOISE LEVELS 105DB].
3. Regarding the drag strip anything quicker than 11.00 must run over the 1/8 mile but slower can run 1/4 mile.
4. BikeS can only run over the 1/8 because of the surface.
5. DRIFT AREA CANNOT HAVE 3RD GEAR CORNER WITHOUT CONCRETE BARRIERS IN PLACE (tHE COST BEING £2000 + VAT which we cannot justify on a one day event) Drift area is 1400 feet x 130 feet
6. Last action is at 16.00 hrs
We now have FREE TYRE CHANGING FACILITY SORTED
ENTRY FEE ON THE GATE £5.00
If anyone is unhappy and wishes a Full refund please e-mail us with you paypal e-mail address and we will procerss a refund.
We are sorry that we have to take these decisions but unfortunately we have no choice other than cancelling the event.
Thanks

Cheers for the upate mate:thumbs: Have moved it to this thread so everyone will see it :)
that sucks about the size of the drift, almost not worth bothering with, but then there is bugger all down this way otherwise so i may as well do it, and i want to get a propper 1/4 time for my car too.
not gonna be able to make it now
due to lack of car (well one thats road legal!!)
:(
Monkey Magic
17-11-2010, 22:46
There's nothing wrong with the size of the track they just want to keep the speed down, most places you go is 2nd gear stuff anyway.
Trust me it will be a good track ;)
Scameras I can understand - even though really there should be no need for them as we all obey the speed limits don't we?!
Noise limits I get - keeps the NIMBY locals grouchbags happy-ish.
1/8 mile restriction on the faster cars and all bikes?! WTF?! Don't get that at all - just sounds like punishment for having a decent power vehicle. Although, honestly, how many cars attending will do that? And how will they know until they try  as for the bikes, don't care... Damn romper-suited hooligans... :wack:
Concrete barriers for 3rd gear corners? Ok - at those kind of speeds, you want something there so you don't plough into the bus shelter of nuns who came to watch.
All the above is moot really as I can't make it anyway! Just thought I'd shove my oar in :p Wouldn't be able to run my car with the turbo the way it is at the moment :(
Would've gone but dont have my car back from the bodyshop, and the xr2 is far from ready, and my Mk4 fiesta has no tax, So I think I'd just depress myself looking at peoples cars doing runs, drifting or just turning up! lol

Everyone still set for tomorrow?
Another update about tomorrows event:
the airfield at smeatharpe is heavily flooded at the drag strip area and due to the amount of rain that has fallen in the past few days the area surrounding the airfield is waterlogged and water is therefore being held on the runway so we cannot safely run the drag racing. we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
The drifting is not affected and indeed we have now doubled the size of the drift area
all rwyb will be refunded

The weather was against us but the event itself wasn't to bad. The skidding was good and there were some guys from here having a go and doning very well.
Shame there wasn't more people there.

Nice work mate. I'm looking for pics of my s13 and my mates stock red s14. If you have any that would be ace.
I had a realy good day and was a massive learning curve. Also the best way to gain confidence in my car too. Even managed to cook a nearly new set of 245s too he he.
Cheers Ralz :D

Yeah that's me :-). Any more mate. You have some skills with a camera mate. The weather really didn't help I bet.
Cheers mate, the first time i've done any photographing of drifting. I suppose the fact that the drag racing was cancelled meant that i had more time to do it to rather than drag racing my car!
The fog was a bit of a pain and the only zoom lenses i've got are pretty crap tbh!
I've just had alook through my photos and i think thats the only one i've got, and i can't find any of the red s14 either - im sure i took some more
Ha ha. No worries mate. Any of a red 318is e36. Another one of my
Mates I went up with. All our first drifty day and was soo much fun

Glad it ran smoothly and everyone had fun
Chris the surface is much better than weston, there are no pot holes on that section of the runway and it is generally a much flatter runway
Now onto more negative stuff
Whoever was in the yellow s13 with jdm garage logos on it, your mate in the subaru is banned from coming next time and also banned from future drift-inc, conedodgers, and any trampdrift events  :smash:
We will be having words with you too, I wasn't there at the time but my mates were so don't be suprised if you are banned too. Cheeky cnuts giving Duke attitude, if I see or hear of any behaviour like what happened last time I will come find you myself and bring down the ban hammer hard :smash:
If I see anyone doing skids in the car park I will drive over your car with my Hilux :)
Anymore of the purple E36 M3 from anyone? Thats my gf's brother.
Nice to see escorts there aswell. Looks well muddy. Want to do it again but paranoid about it from now on in my 14a. Especially after having paintwork done. Need a el cheapo drifter aslong as there will be more local events going on.
Im sure i have more of the red e36 and the techno violet m3, i will have to get digging!I've already got these up of them atm -
