Insured to drive any car.

Hi All

I am now insured to drive any car. My question is does the car have to be insured by a main insurer.

I.e. can I buy a car with a few months tax and mot and drive it for a few months?

And I know that this should be in the insurance question box but I need a quick answer.

if you mean your insurance covers you to drive other people cars, then yes that car also has to be insured.

If you have traders insurance then you can drive anything.

Dan, because as soon as you leave the car it will become uninsured. ie you nip to the shops and the handbrake fails and the car roll's over somone.

But then you wouldn't be able to buy tax for your skyline as you wouldn't have any insurance details.

ermmmmmmmmmmmmmm i beg to differ i have done this and been pulled by the filth more than once and have never been asked to show the owners docs so therefore they would not know, also my ancient brother bought a granada 2.8 to tow a boat when he tried to insure it the quotes where 300 ish cos his no claims where on his main car , he asked the law about this and then said he was doing nothing illegal as long as was taxed and mot'd and not owned by him, he asked about the
"leaving it parked thing" and the reply was if the car is in his care it is insured wheather he is in it or not as he parked it, this was 4-5 years ago and he did this for a couple of years the only snag was he had to put it in a mates name who owns a garage so he could tax it on his traders policy

however , why not just do this and get z300? , well would you want to take a chance on it no being stolen cos your only 3rd party on someone elses car
