Seems to be a few of these popping up on SXOC, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and make a project for mine too!
I bought it in February from my brother (just after the snow melted. Doh!). He added the front/rear bumpers, steering guard, tree sliders and 2" lift. He'd already bought a Disco II and was planning on putting this in the scrappage scheme for a new car. Luckily, I made him see the light, even if it lost him a grand :D

I'm trying to stick to a vague plan with this (as with the 200) and do things properly, when they're needed as opposed to just going in and buying stuff without thinking. Fortunately, running both cars, the buying stuff opportunities are limited!
Still, not to be put off, I got on ebay and purchased some wheels and tyres - the current ones were looking a bit lost in the arches, and the pattern on the tyres was perhaps 90% road biased.
A few days of ebay searching turned up trumps with a set of 5 275/70/16 BFG ATs on Black modular steel rims - exactly what I was after!
Fits on the rear door with mm to spare!!

I've since trimmed (and retrimmed) the arches, but I haven't yet refitted the chequer plate.
It's also quite refreshing having a car you're not too fussed if it picks up dents and scratches, in fact I'm largely encouraging them! We went paintball one day, and luckily the guys that ran it let us change the rules slightly... que the battle wagon! Sod this running lark.

Running it has been largely trouble free (for the abuse it gets), just need to keep on top of maintenance. Had to renew the brakes all round, minimum disc thickness was 15mm... these were 7. New discs, new pads, 3 new hubs, all new bearings and one new calliper later, I was skint.
Still, you can't tell a Landrover that, so some time later I eventually diagnosed one of the strange noises (eventually, when it got loud enough to bother me).

A failed UJ on the front prop. A rear UJ started going this week, but luckily I knew the symptoms so caught it early before it got that bad!
Rust-wise it's not too shabby, but still needs attention. My brother got the rear floor replaced whilst he had it, and at some point the sills have had attention. The front outer wing had disentegrated somehow where it mounts at the bottom. This caused it to rattle very loudly, most annoying. Fortunately the local Landrover place and a wing in the right colour, so I swapped it over. When removed, I was greeted with this:

Not too bad, you can see where the stupid plastic arch dips towards the front and collects the dirt. Looking through the engine bay, the other wing is worse, so I'll be investing in a welder this Christmas. The rear cross member needs patching, but that's pretty much it. I hope.
Before that though, I need to pay attention to the sunroofs, it's raining inside :smash:
