View Full Version : I am going to do it. I am GOING TO DO IT
RIGHT.
I am going to do this. now.
You may remember that a while ago I was blithering away quietly in my own special way about putting a magazine together based on the Jap performance market, but without getting either Lax or Evo-like (while Evo is fine, it isn't exactly interesting to those of us who love cars but aren't freaks).
I am doing this even as we speak.
But, and here is the best bit (well, as far as you dudes are concerned anyway) it will be FREE.
FREE.
Bugger me, FREE
(edit - metaphorically)
How, how can it be free? The simple answer is that it will be done all online at first.
I don't know when the first edition will be out. I'm going for about 20-30 unique pages. With no bloody advertising unless it passes the most rigorous of standards.
You'll be getting things about Jap cars, things about life in general, maybe even some stuff on the latest and greatest sh1t to be happening on the music scene. I don't know.
But it will be FREE.
All those interested say AYE

AYE.
I like the idea of having other articles - imagine The Face with a jap-car bias :)
Aye, sounds good to me mate (except the buggering you free bit  ;))
Always thought the tricky part about doing that type of mag (and possibly the reason there are so few that are any good) is that a mag like Evo concentrates on standard cars, so will talk about what a perticular model is like in general (which could get a bit boring if all you concentrated on was Japenese performance cars) but a mag like Lax Power has to discuss one individual car at a time which means to having to read about what make of Neon washer jet has been fitted and other such boring, pointless sh1te (probably why they have to find cars plastered in tacky crap, makes it easier for lazy journo's to fill the pages with bollocks).
Jap Performance is the only mag I've read that strikes any kind of blance for folks like us who have an interest in modded cars and also want to know about new and used cars in more general terms.
Sorry, I'm rambling now. Very bored today so have been doing that a lot :o

WTF has music gotta do with cars?

AYE - but with no buggering :-)
You've got a stereo in your car, haven't you?
Anyway, why shouldn't a mag mainly baised to Jap cars have music stuff in there?
Tombs - yeah, that's the spirit. But more like Dazed&Confused.

Where are you going to host it ? This will cost you money. Especially bandwidth
If its good enough I will pay for the hosting ( I have my own servers) and you can advertise my company..

I think that was me. But in print form at that time.
It would have been about a year ago that I was going on about it. Or are you thinking of someone else?
So I'm guessing that you guys would be generally in favour, yes?

Ohh nice one mate, thanks.
At first would be run from the serving company I currently use, just for the preliminary trial (ie a few weeks). Obviously I haven't counted my chickens yet, but with an offer like that I'm a stage further ahead. Cheers!
(that's what I like about the SXOC)

Aye, quite a large undertaking tho m8..

A REAL scene magazine with real information. None of the crap like half naked whores, shitty advertorials and nasty looking cars. I'd even offer some content if my arm wasn't so painful :(
AYE
just thinking tho, although yes I have a strereo in my car, the chance of it having the same music as everyone else is quite slim :)
I'd keep it to cars if I were you ;)
but i'm not, it's your trainset and I can skip music pages :D
Good luck
Aye.
Sounds like a great idea.
Alg;) (would offer any assistance I can but have no skills to offer:rolleyes: )

I happen to think EVO is an excellent magazine, its is editorially intelligent and has some absolutely fantastic photographs.
What part of it do you think is aimed at freaks?
freaks in the nicest sense.
And yes, I agree with your points. But you have to be a real petrol head to read it, in my experience, which is backed up by soem other peeps I know.
But it is good. Sorry, freaks was maybe perjorative (sp) and unqualfied :(

The use of the phrase "aye" is commonly thought to have been derived from the use of the word "I" to imply you are directing a reply towards yourself. For instance...
"All those in favour of banning Pete say I (am in favour)"
And the reply...
"Aye (am in favour)"
Hmm... Now I have to go post in the "what I learned today" thread.:)

It sorta sank in last night jsut how much I've probably taken on. But I am going to give it my bestest best shot - its something I really want to do.
ANyway, when I have I ever made life easy for myself??? ;)

Aye.
Hope it pans out nicely. I reckon something like Evo mag but with more emphasis on mods would be a good'un.

Actually, on reflection, I would have thought that it is a typical bastardisation of "Oui".
Tho perhaps not... hmm
