What car should I get ? [Archive]

Hi, I know this is a bit cliche, but I have just finished uni...2.2 in physics and I have finally decided to change my car...currently got a 316 compact with 18's, its lowered and iced up, but not fast at all. Its 1995 with 90k miles, probably worth 4000 if i wanted to sell it quick, so what should I replace it with ? I have 4 years ncb, good post code, so insurance on things upto group 17 is ok....so go on through some ideas at me, got to be under 10k, and not too bad on running costs, and I like rwd...

yeah , just after uni...I need some fun now , as I had little whilst I was there....so a s14 is the way to go ? Can someone do a quick buying guide on one for me..lsd, miles, age, spec , a/c ? etc etc

s14 everytime....................

a good s14 like mine can be picked up 4 grand no probs

average s14 = 3-3.5 k

good s14as bout 5-6 grand

S14 A is the way forward, much nicer looking fromthe front :D

Make sure you get the touring pack, you get sills like you see onthe side of mine....

i have 2 admit the s14 has a bland front end, whereas the s14a front end looks great - a really nice looking front

its a shame about both our s14 azzes tho innit?? :wack:

I would say S14a. I got mine in may on my 21st birthday(thats just a coincidence), and i love it.

would any of you s13 guys actually buy the s13 over the s14/a if money wasnt an issue?

its not meant to be 'my cars better than yours' question, im just interested.

i originally wanted an s14a simply because its a better looking car, but i couldnt afford the 5-5.5 grand prices that where floating around my sides in january this year, so i went for my s14, because the colour did something 4 me, and it had one owner and every single major job done to it that needed doing 2 it!!!

it all turned out right in the end, because im sure if i'dda had a high mileage s14a instead of me luvvery 67k s14, then all the usual crap would be going wrong with it - tubby gaskets etc etc

I was in a same sorta situation. earlier this year i was after an s13 coz it was all i could afford. Then it was an s14, and luckily themoney came through for me to get wot i really wanted, and now i've got my 54k miles S14a.

If I'd had the money to buy an s14/s14a then I'd probably have bought a Porsche 944 instead of my s13.

Would I buy an s14a when I get rid of my s13? Not sure....

I did. I was actually after an s14a but saw mine and had to have it.
Then when I thought mine had to go, Andy offered me a 9,000 s14a on a W plate, but I didn't want it enough to get rid of mine.

I drive Andy's and its great. Fantastic car but it just isn't my s13.

To tell the truth I would get an S14a if I had more money, but I'd rather have an S15 spec r with the aero kit, or a Supra TT (cheers Keith_C for taking me for a spin) or an RX-7, or a Skyline, or a.............etc

Mmm i'd maybe go for an S14a, but S14's look pants IMO in comparison so no.

Prolly S13 modded or S15.

so given i can afford an s14 , would you go for manual or auto ? and do they all have a/c or climate control, as I wouldnt buy another car without air con of some description.....and is leather really worth having ? any one know any good ones for sale ?

Nope, I dont like cars with boots. Hence why I wont buy a BMW... plus the fact its a BMW. :p

The only major plus point that I can see is S14/a's is there age.

If I had the money Id get a RX7... but I dont and S13's seems good value if even if they are not in the super car bracket.

Yeah, same here, S13 bought on price - if I'd had the money for an S14 i'd have got an RX7.

S13 to S14A?

I've got the cash to change cars, now, was going to buy an S14 but after driving a couple I'm not going to, not 100% about the looks, S14a front end is v nice, interior ok but the rest I'm not so sure about, S14's just don't float my boat like an S13 does.

So I'm buying something completely different instead! (4WD turbo, but not german or jap!)

I do like the s14a but I think I would still have baught an s13 at the end of the day, the looks and performace (feel) do it for me. plus only 0.01% of the population know what it is.

Depending on your cash situation I'd go for an s14 and start modding it.

Or buy an S13 and UBER mod it!!!!

Well if I had my time again I think I'd probably buy a Ford Escort 1.3 and throw shed loads of money at it for bodykits and ice and neons and all. That way I could pull any decent girl I want.
