The car is now making a strange scraping noise from the left hand side, sounds like it's coming from one of the wheels but can't tell which. Have jacked up the car but noticed nothing out of the ordinary (not that I could tell anyway). It's definitely coming from the left, so I'm surprised that it is aggrivated mostly by left hand corners.. Turning right, or pressing the brakes a bit cancels the noise out. Usually it's not even audible but after a quick run today it was loud as hell like something was about to sever itself off the car.
I don't suppose anyone's had a problem like this before have they?

Hiya mate. The only things that I can think of are either the brake pads are down to the metal or the wheel bearing is knackered. Jack the car up and wiggle the wheel to see if there is any side to side and up and down movement. This will show if its a bearing.

Hope this helps

it is possible thet it may be a stone caught behind the backplate , or in the caliper, this has happened to me on a number of occasions, it also can be caused by the back plate rubbing on the disc, if it has been knocked. I just put the beast in reverse go back and step on the brake ( usally ejects the stone ) noise gone. Hope its that simple!
