View Full Version : Hopping mad with a driving instructor and his pupil
Parked on Focus carpark buying a few things this aft. I come back to the car to find a rhe rear end of a driving instructors Ford Focus, embedded in the front offside wing and headlamp of my car.
Turns out, according to the 14 witnesses I have that he'd brought a pupil onto the carpark to practice reverse parking technique and that I was the lucky person he chose for his pupil to park next to.
What made matters worse was that, according to the witnesses, he then tried to exchange places with the learner and then drive off without leaving a note or anything. If it hadn't been for a particularly large chap who sat on his bonnet to stop him driving away I'd have been left with wuite an expensive bill to pay.
Before I'd got back someone had called the police. They duly arrived (didn't take them long at all it has to be said  ) and were extremely good. Instructor bloke tried to say that he had been at the wheel but like I say there were 14 witnesses to the contrary.
To all the witnesses, the police and the very helpful young lady from Focus who made me a nice cup of coffee, thanks very much
To the driving instructor  You will be hearing from me and my insurers matey.
Also, can I apologise in advance if I have a go at anyone on the board tonight, cos I'm absolutley hopping mad.
Not your 200 I hope?
b@stard
I witnessed a right c0ck in a Pug 406 practically take the side off a parked car in Luton airport car park the other day - the twat drove off before i could get out of the car and collar im.
Called the police - they said they would leave a report on the system so that if the owner of the damaged car made a complaint they would know who did it - why the fcuk not just find out who owns the car and do him for leaving the scene of an accident?
That's fookin outrageous!
Sorry to hear that JB, I hope he gets BIG penalties for that:mad:
BASTIDS
GRRRR

RAPE THEM IN TEH FACE "!"%"""^&$£"!!
Was it the 200 JB ???!?!?!?!? :wack:
No, it was the E. Mate of mine who works for MB came round earlier and reckons there's 4Ks worth of damage, providing it's not damaged the steering
Needs new inner and outer wing, new bonnet, front bumper and headlight (they're gas discharge which if mega expensive to replace).
The only saving grace is that the missus and baby were'n waiting for me in the car like they usually do.
Still it's insured and no one was hurt so things could be a lot worse.
oooo hopping mad? I don't bloody blame you matey I would be too.
The driving instructor should have found an empty corner of the car park and put some cones out or something.
I see why you have you skin inside out on your other post now ;)
flipin heck  was he trying to teach him how to handbrake park?

Unlucky mate :( Hope it all gets sorted quickly. TBH the instructor shouldn't have made him park next to a car (in case he stuffed it up), whats wrong with the white lines?
FCUK!!!

What a great example set there by the instructor: doesn't matter if you crash into a parked car, just drive off! Lucky there were witnesses around.:(
bast*ard!
Don't mean to be pessamistic but I just hope the reason the instructor was trying to swap places isn't because the pupil isn't insured... :(
Bad luck mate - hope you all get it sorted.

Cheeky bastage!!!!
so will the driving instructor be done for attempting to pervert the course of justice??....( sayin it was him when it was his pupil).....
you should create a big stink about the whole thing and see if he can be struck off or something
Thanks for the sympathy guys and gals.
I don't care what happens to the instructor as long as I don't lose my NCB. Could really do with getting the car sorted pronto as well as we're moving to France in about 10 days.

LOL! OMG you are kidding??? :D

Sorry to hear it JB - if the damage was that bad to the Bim, what was it to the other car?
I think driving schools have to have their own indemnity insurance or summat...
I know that when I learnt, I didn't have to have private insurance and instructors insurance...

Modern Mercs are built no better than Fords or Renaults :( I also have a '91 190E. That is built like a bank vault, like all Mercs should be.
The Focus had a smashed rear bumper, lights wing and looked like the roof was kinked slightly. I estimate that she must have reversed into me at about 30 mph. She told plod that her foot slipped off the clutch and the car "just got away from me".

Dont worry about insurance. The driving instructors insurance covers any other drivers who drive the car. I hope the tw@ loses his job over that - thats just wrong.

Ooops! Sorry to hear the bad news, JB - looks like it might work out, though :)
If you are moving to France are you ever likely to make it to a Bristol meet as was once mooted?

I was toying with the idea of going to the July one actually. Would you be going?
Unlucky mate, the instructor is obvisously a complete tosser.
I think I will be having the last laugh here.
Been liaising with solicitors, insurers and Merc all day. It will take at least 3 weeks to get things sorted, but more likely 4 or 5 weeks. My solicitor says to go ahead and hire an equivalent car for the duration and claim off the instructor.
This I have duly done. It arrives tomorrow at a discount rate of £215 per day. Which, if I have it for 4 weeks will set him back over £6000.
I'd like to see his no claims after that. Also, I hear that the girl who was driving his car at the time has consulted lawyer with a view to sueing him for the trauma his negligence caused her. PML :D :D :D :D :D
Excellent news! :D I hope it all works out

lol nice one :)
Was it another E500 you hired?
Good to hear he got what was coming to him though  :D
Nah about the only Eclass you can hire is a 240, which is dog slow and not exactly what we need bareing in mind the Missus will be going back and forth to France over the next few weeks.
Gone for an S320 which should be ok as a stopgap.
Gonna have to order a supply of Havanna Cigars to go with it though and get a copy of Old Fart & Third World Dictator Monthly.

That came out wrong. I meant it's not my choice of car and I would much prefer my E. Which is company funded I might add as well as being 4 years old, but nobody knows that cos it's on French plates which disguises the age.
I'm a partner in a software design company.

I should mention that my 'smilie comment' and the subsequent question were also unrelated  - looking back, it looks like I was taking the p!ss more than I was :)
Just interested about the job - not just the financial aspects of moving to France & commuting back & forth, but also what kind of job would allow that life. Will you be able to do a fair bit of work from home in France, working with IT?

I might (that's a MIGHT) be on nights so, as usual, I don't yet know.
I could be more non-committal I suppose.......
JB i take it you've got authorisation from either his insurers or your unisured loss recovery agents to hire a car yeah?
