***EVENT*** West Country BBQ & Photoshoot - Sun 19th Sept (prov)

We haven't had the annual West Country BBQ yet! So it's about time it got arranged.

And with the appointment of the SXOC catering manager (who happens to reside in the West Country), the food this time should actually be quite nice!!



In addition we can use the gathering as an excuse to get some photo's of our cars taken for the SXOC calendar submissions.

TomJD will hopefully be able to get some single or group shots in. (I would love to see a West Country group photo make it into next years calendar.:thumbs: )



Anyways, here's the plan. A couple of years ago we met up at and quite a few of us all drove up to Dursley golf course. Unfortunately the weather was pants, but was still a really good meet up and drive out to Dursley. -As per Matts thread: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=466946 (A high quality photo like that one would be nice).

The location was good too, so I was hoping to perhaps use that as the end point and have the BBQ there. Hopefully we can time it so we get the early evening sun setting, assuming the weather works for us.


Initially we can meet up somewhere and try and go to a variety of locations to get Tom and his camera skills to gather a plethera of photo's of the cars en route.

I found out the hard way with an ex girlfirend, had two grizzly bearded truck drivers stairing through the window mid flow. Right boys and girls, BBQ planned for this Sunday. Caught up with Bristol at the weekend and both agreed on a good photo shoot/BBQ location. Sadly cant for the life of me remember where it is :wack:.

Not to disturb on everyone’s weekend, we are meeting up mid afternoon, heading to the unknown location :rolleyes: and having a photo shoot with food :D

BBQ pitch now booked and we have permission to use our SXOC BBQ grills. Though at the moment it doesn't look like much food is required. Burgers for 3!

We are in area 10. (We can use area 6 and 4 if we need more room or a queiter location). Areas are indicated on the map in the forrest entrance, and are also clearly signposted.

Plan for Sunday for those meeting at the Bristol meet point.

I am still thinking under Avonmouth bridge. Tom (with the camera) has said he can make it, no problem. So if we meet say, around 1400h, that should give us time to get a few snaps and easily make it to Savernack Forrest by 3, half 3.

The meet point at Avonmouth I was suggesting was directly under the motorway bridge. However it is still a big area. On the map above it is a bit more specific as to where under the bridge. (It's just as you turn off the portway and cross over the train track level crossing)

Though we were meeting there around 1400h, (=2PM). We will hopefully have left and made it to Savernack forest by 4PM though.

Having said that there is another spot under the bridge, good for taking photo's the otherside of the portway over by the Robin Cousins Sports Centre.

We may also pop over there to check out it out, but requires driving back down to the portway, up the other side and down a little side road to get there.

May be best to give me a call if you can't find us.



(Though having said that Tom the photographer has just text me to say he might not be able to make it to the Avonmouth meet point, so there is perhaps little point meeting there).:annoyed:
