View Full Version : Behaviour at Billing

Just a reminder that at *and going to and from* Billing we will be representing the SXOC specifically and the Jap modified car community generally.

This means that we would like to see *everyone*, without exception, behaving themselves in their cars. Sure, drink until you can't count to 1 and then spew in your tent (I know I intend to :D ) but when you're in your car we'd like you to behave as if there was a copper sitting behind you.

Mainly because Billing is and has been nicely police-free up until now, without there being huge spot-checks or mass impoundments outside the gate, etc etc, and we'd like this to continue. People getting into their cars in the middle of the night while drunk and proceeding to try and do donuts next to people's tents/cars will have the likes of the larger members of the committee to answer to, whom I imagine will be less than chuffed. In addition 140mph races down the M1 after leaving or on the way to Billing will do nothing but confirm to the locals that we're no better than the BBC-wearing idiots outside the nearest MaccyD's of an evening.

The show is about going, relaxing, and spending a bit of time with like-minded individuals. Please, lets make sure we can keep doing it.

...Also worth pointing out that there are strange people who go in their caravans for holidays at Billing on JAE weekend and they probably don't take kindly to people bombing round the site in their cars in the dead of night :) (Dave R ... :p )

Seriously - a good point, Keith, and well made :) IIRC there are fairly frequent security patrols at Billing, who caught out a few people donutting on the Sunday evening last year - worth bearing in mind :)

Paul you got a bigger picture of that glowing manifold on your avatar?

Oh, and good point Keith. I hope the other forums are getting similar requests, or getting out of there's going to be a nightmare!

Cheers mate - nice one:)

Dunc - its that colour due to the temps involved - in fact you can work out the temperature by the colour if you know the material (obviously cast iron in this case) Cant remember the exact reason but its something to do with the level of energy in the electrons makes them vibrate at a certain frequency (hotter they are the faster they vibrate), then they move down an energy level and release a photon, and the amount of energy in that photon is inversely proportional(I think) to the wavelength, so if the heat is right, then the electromagnetic waves given off are in the visible light spectrum.
Or I could be talking total bollox, since I haven't done physics for over 5 years.

And on the spewing, I usually manage to crawl to the exit of the tent to spew - then stand in it in the morning - doh!:o

Yeah thats another classic  :D

Interesting stuff on the colour, I assume white is the hottest? A guy at my work who used to work for Garret told me they (probably only in test conditions) can get so hot that they start becoming translucent. I can't get my head round it so I'm not convinced though.....

Well said Keith, such announcements seperate this clubs attitude from the usual rabble

Yep well said Keith.

I do feel however this event is getting to be very big and if not this year, probably next it will be start to be policed, which would be crap.
I did see a few pigs around last year, they told them to turn TFAF film off.

Yeah and who got kicked off site last year?
Wasn't it raving default. LOL

No thats true, I've done it to my car once when the actuator arm snapped. I lifted the bonnet and anything that went near it ie dust particles went up in little flashes. you could see through the bloody thing

I hope no one upsets the organisers at all, some dick from another club did last year and I think the whole club got banned for this year.

White is the second hottest
Blue-white is the hottest and equates to more than 20,000 degrees C

I would like to see a transparent manifold, though!

Total agreement here. :D
Hope everyone takes note, would be nice to
be invited back to Billing next year, and to
avoid any hassel from the local Po-lice types.

(Note to self - don't pitch tent near Keith/Dunc
or Martin T :D )

Dunc - you were right the first time - I was wrong - translucent is the word. I somewhat doubt cast Iron can be transparent, in any situation :wack:

I've confused myself a bit :o What does translucent mean? :o :(

Allows light through. Think of a bathroom window with all the rough surface - it lets the light through, but you cant see bugger all behind it. Transparent would be a normal window. Also if the window was dyed red it would be translucent, but not transparent. In reality, it obviously doesn't matter how you use transparent as everyone knows what you mean.
Waiting for someone to point out that I am in fact wrong here.....

HAHA

Thats another thread hijacked!:o

Last year the people who DID piss me off were those in MR2's, pulsars, etc. who insisted on bombing round the tarmac of billing going slow then bblipping the throttle, maybe upto only 15-20mph but enough to kill a kid.

Can we all make sure theres not a 200sx doing that? We all know how quick they are.

There were kids around, and I made a habit of staying well within the 5mph speed limit if I trundled out.

That was my only pet piss off.

I wish I had seen this thread before Billing. I had a chat with Martin T a few times. It got that heavy I was resorted to go and talk to Gary (with "THE" yellow S13). Where as Martin can talk "techie" for ages - Gary just talks a load of Cod. Bless him.

Im sure Martin is not normally like that though - I think it was the drink talking.

Yeah right!:D

have to say that did worry me on serval occasion as morgan, our two year old has "no fear" and doesn't realise how dangerous it is to run off.

mattygee rescued him on sunday when a scooby decided to go way to fast down the tarmac as morgan had decided to run away from us towards the toilet..... it was one of those split second things......

Yeah, I mean I was scared of runnign someone over just moving through the swarm of people at only about 0.5mph!
