View Full Version : Who's been to Venice??
Im taking mf GF to venice for a weekend as a suprise for her 21st birthday.
Has anyone got any suggestions on what to go look at whilst there and/or any reccomended resturants/bars.
She has said in the past that she would like to go to a glass factory which i know they have there. Then you have the obvious Gondolas. Just wondered about anything else.
Any help would be great
Thanks
Simon
Venice is lovely. Very romantic though in the summer the canals can sometimes get a little smelly.
If you can, avoid going during busy periods cos it gets very very packed. Just get a brochure from a travel agent or look on the Venice website for all the differnt acitivites you can do. The problem you'll find wiht a weekend is that you'll want to do far more than you actually have time for.
Oh, and take LOTS of money, cos it's pricey.
Make sure that you agree a price BEFORE you go on the Gondolas;)
Otherwise you could end up with a nasty surprise when you go to get off:(
Oh and as JB says, Take shed loads of money:D:D:D
Very nice place though and TBH I never noticed any smell:confused:
Well its all booked for the weekend of the 1st August. Got a Hotel halfway between the Rialto Bridge and St.Marks Square.
So its probably gonna be busy and smelly, lol
What did you get up to when you went.
Ive been before but only when i was a kid so cant really remember much about it.
Also how did you get on with transfers from the airport. I have seen a water Taxi for 10€. Is there any other options??
Just to clarify the smell thing. That's only when it's exessively hot and then only on the stretches of canal that are hardly used.
Oh yeah, one more thing, watch out for Pidgeon shit :D
Been to the glass factory there.
Its on a little island which you need to catch a boat to get too, well cool how they do that.
Venice = Very nice
Would love to go back
