UPDATE: Now with added photography!!! - We now have a trackside photographer!!! Some people may have met Tom at last Saturdays West Country meet. He has very kindly offered his photography services for this event and I have managed to get him a press/photographers pass. So hopefully he should be able to get some good shots of any 200's from the trackside areas that are normally exclusively for photographers.

Hopefully this could produce some good West Country pics for the SXOC 2011 calendar

Last year I think we had about 14 cars on the stand and quite a few 200's out on track. The 'Spring' Action Day earlier this year is summarised in an article in this quarters SXOC newsletter. Check it out! - http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=465383

The cost for the first 6 stand spaces for the club is quite reasonable, after 6 the cost goes up and I always need to be carefull that I'm not out of pocket if someone drops out.

So, I'm going to try and use some of the SXOC budget to subsidise it so I can try and revise the cost for this event.


Unfortunately this clashes with JAE, hence I have kept this as a West Country event rather than a National Event. But it does mean West Country members get first dips on the first 6 stand spaces.




Cost

First 6 Stand spaces (inc entrance) - Free.

Stand spaces thereafter (inc entrance) £10*

Track passes £30*


Ideally we would want smart or inspiring looking cars on the stand, or cars with track passes.

Stand spaces will probably be limited to 12max but ultimately will depend on how many I can get from Castle Combe.


* - Note: Only when payment has been received will your space be confirmed. All spaces will need to be confirmed and paid for by 1st September. After such time reserved spaces will be superseeded by anyone wanting to go who can provide payment.

For the first 6 'free' spaces, you can confirm your reservation by purchasing and paying for a track slot.;)

One big stand. The offer for the first 6 spaces, which were free were only being offered to members. I think it explains it all in the first post.

Though it doesn't actually state whether the stand is 'exclusively' for members. I had put 200SXS13 on the bottom of the list and explained by PM that paid up members would take priority. He was a member, I believe his membership has just expired, he just hasn't renewed it yet.


db limit is 100db at 4500 revs, measured from 1m and at 45degrees from the exhaust pipe.:thumbs:

As everyone knows, you cannot drift in any of the SXOC track sessions. I asked Combe today whether they had any exclusive drift sessions for those wanting to drift.

Currently they will have a drift demonstration/display at lunch time. But have said if enough people are interest in having an open exclusive 'drift' track session they 'may' be able to arrange it.

So is anyone interested in taking part in a drift session at this Summers Performance Car Action Day?

I would stress that there will be an awful lot of people watching you. - All waiting with camera phones to upload the footage to youtube if you get it wrong.:nod::cry:

The pressure will be on so I would strongly recommend you do not treat it as a chance to 'suck it and see' if you can drift, only to find out you suck at it. I would only really recommend it for those who have drifted Combe before or other experienced drifters.

As yet I do not know what time such a session will be scheduled for. Track sessions will be £30 for approx 15mins session. (Entrance ticket will be required, see first post for details) And noise will be 100bd at 4500rpm measured at 45degs and 50cm from your exhaust.

I thought I would introduce myself, I am the photographer that Bristol Blue is talking about in the first post. I will be coming along to Combe (and hopefully some future events) to get some shots of you guys on (and off) the track.

Here are a few examples of my work below, you may recognise a few of the cars!

If anyone has any preferences of the kind of shots they would like to see (panning/frozen etc), and if there is a specific corner you would like me to stay on please let me know!

I'm surprised it was that low. Normally taking a reading there is well over 100 for most people.

The one sure way to find out is take a quite trip up to Combe. Just go on a day when they have something on and are sound testing. (They will let you do this, others on here have done the same). Probably best to give them a call and see when they next have someone out doing the sound tests.

I spoke with Maria yesterday and asked for an SXOC drift session. It was agreed assuming numbers were there to make it worth doing. 9Though she didn't say whay number would be ideal. I just said I would find out how many would be interested.

Passengers should be allowed. They will need to wear a helmet and pay 5quid insurance. They might also have to attend a passenger briefing. Not sure, but it'll be the same as a regular session passenger.

May be interesting. I have currently said SXOC members only, though quite a few on DriftWorks are on here anyway. You must state that it's not guarenteed so if people do put their names down it may not necessarily go ahead.

Combe seemed happy enough for it to go ahead. It was all down to whether or not enough people were interested to make it worth their while fitting the session into the schedule.

Either way, yes! I have a stand and entrance ticket left. However if Dan is now on for the drift session at 1515h, he will need to speak with Combe to book it.

According to Cr33ch, there are plenty of spaces left for that open drift session but because it's close to the day now, they can't post out the tickets, they'll have to be collected from the Strawford Centre on the day.

I caught your huge flame just as you were going up Avonrise towards quarry. Though having said that I haven't checked the footage fully. It did run out before the end of the session so may be cut short.
