6 ltrs fuchs titan 75w90 syn semi synthetic gear oil (3.5ltr box, 1.5ltr front dif, 1ltr rear diff) - 44-97

ordered mine on thursday! should have been nearly £120 but got it for £93 delivered! Bargain!
hi oilman, i ordered all the oils and quantities as per your reccomendation for the 54 subaru sti type uk new age impreza and ever since changing all the fluids the rear diff has been crabbing/locking when turning corners......alll else is fine. i have since done some more research on the diff oils for a dccd car and the fuchs syn 75/90 has been flagged up as not suitable by a number of people. is there anything we can do about this? will simply changing the oil for the correct type cure this problem?
Is it the Fuchs Titan SynGear 75w-90, the semi synthetic one you got?
Cheers
Guy
hi guy, its the one you reccommended in post 11, titan gear syn 75w90 - its not doing it any good at all, seems to have broken down as soon as the diff got warm and started to cause this crabbing.....
Not happy.
Had to phone you on Friday to ask where my stuff was that I ordered on the previous Sunday.
Told I would get a phone call later that day..no phone call..got email saying that order sent but account says otherwise.
Sent email about 10 oclock today then phoned at 10.45 am to ask whats going on.
Told it HASNT been sent but will go today.
I hate being mucked about like this..I could have gone out this morning.
Getting an order sent eight days after ordering it and having to chase it to find where it is just rubbish service...

I didn't realise you had DCCD, but the Gear Syn 75w-90 meets the specs needed for the DCCD set up, a 75w-90 GL5 oil, it doesn't need to have the limited slip additives although some people use LSD oils and no one has reported any problems to us with it before. What may well work is the Redline Friction Modifier.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-6320-redline-limited-slip-differential-friction-modifier-break-in-additive.aspx
Other people have used oils that are limited slip diff and gearbox suitable, so that would be the Fuchs Syn 5 or Millers CRX NT LS.

If you want to go for one of the other oils, I'll knock the price of the Gear Syn off it for you.

You're right, that's not good enough. I've asked one of the dispatch guys to explain why it wasn't with you sooner as I have no idea why it's not with you already.

The filters did not arrive with you until Friday.I didnt mind that and told them so.
What I dont like is to phone them on Friday to find out was the situation was and told that I would recieve a phone call back that day to confirm the order was despatched.
Did not recieve any phone call..instead got an email telling me my order was despatched when it was not..it is still there now.
I dont mind that it is being despatched today...I just dont want to be told it was despatched Friday when it wasnt .
hi tim, seeing the only way to get things 100% right we had to go and get a litre of subarus oem oil as soon as. its just unfortunate that the recommended oil didnt work......maybe its worth changing the recommended oil to something thats specifically for lsd's to avoid the hassles of it maybe happening again.....
No one else has mentioned to us that the Gear Syn has caused any problems in their car though and it meets all the required specs for the car, it's pretty odd that it it didn't work for you. As it's technically correct (as I confirmed, it wasn't just some computer blip, according to all the data we have it's the correct choice for the car, but sometimes for no apparant reason an oil doesn't behave quite as it's expected to) we'll leave it on the site.
well i really couldnt understand it either being of the same spec (75w90), but the subaru stuff has cured it and was a hell of a lot thicker than the titan stuff......we'll have to take it as a lesson learned i suppose.......

Mr Oilman,
'98 S14a 200sx. Diff oil for a 1.5 Nismo GT Pro TT.
What would you recomend? Nismo recomend some 75-140. What would you recomend? Would that be alright for road use? Needs to be fuly systhetic and GL5
I'm thinking some cheap stuff for running it in (as its only going to be in there for 40minutes) and then moving some more expensive stuff for everyday use
According to my info a 75w-90 is the correct oil to use and a popular one for it is the Motul Gear 300LS.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90.aspx
Millers CRX NT LS, Fuchs Syn 5 and Redline 75w-90 GL5 are also very good choices. For running it in, just go for either the Fuchs Gear Syn or something like the Castrol EP 80w-90

Hi Simon,
I ordered 5w40 silkolene pro s and have been delivered 5w40 Titan?
Rich
mate, to save waiting for an explanation i can tell you that silkolene has been rebranded as fuchs titan so silkolene as a brand isnt around any more ;)
Yes, it's exactly the same stuff, even the same container, just a different label.
It's all explained here
