Hi guys, Im staying near Builth Wells tomorrow as I have a site visit in swansea, then Im travelling up to cribarth, staying and visiting a site there on Weds. I wondered if theres anyone who could tell me about the river Wye?
Im a very keen fisherman and would love to fish it but do not know if its owned by an angling club on that stretch? Also how long would it take to drive from swansea to Builth Wells? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks guys n drive safe

If you want to fish the Wye you need a license, which is very expensive as the Wye is predominantly Salmon. You'll also need to examine the rights of way and the ownerhip of certain stretches of the banks. If it's privately owned they owner will charge a fortune for permission to fish. If you're caught without the correct paperwork or licenses you'll be up for a hefty fine. Have a look at the fisheries, or whatever they're called this week's website. It'll all be on there. Hope that helps a bit.

It was boring and flat but that was the plan  nothing like floating and drinking and other things in perfect peace and quiet.

Builth Wells sounds like a bit of an odd choice of place to stay for a site visit since you come from Reading, wouldn't it have been better to come straight up the M4?

Or are you just getting your company to foot part of the bill for your fishing trip, in which case fair play to you.

(Posting from a Premier inn just outside Hull, on a site visit, and not at all jealous honest :D)

Im also confused at the location for the overnight stop !

With regards to fishing on the Wye, if you are going to do it as a one off then book a trip otherwise it's going to cost you almost as much in licences and permissions fees.

And you will find that for course fishing the trips need booking well in advance.

Im sure there was a website for the Wye but cant remember for the life of me what it was.
